Diablo 4 is a game made for idiots. It's like watching a Marvel movie. You aren't supposed to be challenged by the concept of it, you're supposed to indulge. If AI generated media is ever going to be a mainstay it would pump out games like Diablo 4.

Game looks beautiful. Probably the best looking ARPG I have ever played. Sound design is a bit muddy, but presumably good (too much going on). The world building is... kind of bland. The story is awful and once again feels like it was written for idiots (which, let's be honest, most people playing this game will be). The storybeats are laid out defying any semblance of character depth for actors involved, but do advance the story in a linear, very easy to comprehend fashion that more or less justifies you moving between regions. Lilith herself, being the big bad, embodies this perfectly. She just interacts with inconsequential NPCs so the player has a reason to move through some area by intermittently being exposed to her talking to them. Lilith really needs a personal assistant as the notion of time management seems a bit lost on her.

Gameplay is your typical ARPG. I opted for the hardest difficulty with what was described to me as the hardest character, and 3 story bosses in I've not even been anywhere near dying. It's just clicking things on the screen and using abilities when they are off cooldown. It's stupid and doesn't pretend to be anything else either.

Game is riddled with microtransactions. Has a battlepass, because this is Blizzard we're speaking about. I mean; you know the deal by now. It's offensive, but when you buy a Blizzard title nowadays you implicitly accept you are going to be bugged for the spare pennies in your wallet.

Overall it's a solid ARPG tainted by Blizzard stink. It's also an incredibly dumb game that expects you to be of the intelligence of a lobotomized infant, but once again - that has become more or less synonymous with ARPGs anyway. Worth it on a deep sale (like I got it) if you know what you are getting into.
