I remember, back when this game came out and I was like, 12, I was like "Yea! YEAH!!! THIS GAME WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING!!!" But honestly, compared to most Traveller"s Tale-style LEGO games, this one feels pretty empty. It"s got all of the checkbox LEGO game stuff, 1. Massive Roster 2. Collectibles 3. Goofy LEGO shenanigans. But it doesn"t have what makes a LEGO game a magic piece of virtual plastic that"s much better as a game than it has any right to be. For example, I like to compare this to LEGO Batman, since in that game you don"t really follow a rehashed, parody of the original story. It"s comparable to this one since it makes something out of nothing with the story. But in that game, it honestly makes you feel like you"re there in Gotham. All of the scenery is heavily inspired by the Tim Burton movies and even though it"s as goofy as LEGO game always is, all the characters feel like the characters you see on the screen in the animated series. LEGO Batman has atmosphere.

Ok actual review time. The roster in this game is, to be blunt, bloated. 10 different Iron Men, 20 different Spider-Men, and every other character has 2 alts. That"s not all, inconsistent roster holes. What I mean by that is that you can pick Bruce Banner and Hulk separately, but you can"t pick General Ross from Red-Hulk or Peter Parker from Spider-Man. This is a little bit of a nitpick, but I don"t know why they made it so that you can create like 16 custom characters. Do we really NEED that many? Also, I may be wrong, but I think this is the first LEGO game that has DLC. when I saw that price tag, it hurt, wallet and soul. Levels are pretty long, there are some bugs, but nothing too noticeable or game-breaking. I thought the story was pretty enjoyable (when I was 12) now I can"t help but skip almost every cutscene. You can"t skip the ones for the Deadpool Red bricks though. On that note, they did get Stan Lee, Nolan North and Steve Blum, but I still hate how LEGO characters have voice-lines. It"s uncanny, (no pun intended). Overall, exhausting, but I don"t know yet if this is the worst LEGO game ever. I give this one a 5/10.

In short, If playing as your MARVEL heroes" LEGO versions is your slice of LEGO pie, go for it. But if you"re looking for a good LEGO game, this isn"t it.

I feel like I could talk about these LEGO games for days, but I feel like I"ve said too much about a game about collecting plastic guys in tights.

LEGOLEGOLEGOLEGOLEGOLEGOLEGO.... I hate typing that out.

Absolute necessity; If you have not played any of these games, you do not belong on the internet. Thank you and goodbye.

Developers who make people pay for expansions that are continuations to the main line story are people who are trying to make money off of what should be a space for creativity in a distasteful way.

Developers who partake in the aforementioned and then take what people spent money on away, do not deserve to have anyone play their game period.

What was once a 3/5 fancy looking looter shooter in my book is now a 0/5, bottom-of-the-barrel successor that is even more of a failure than the previous title.

It really sucks because it"s obvious there"s talented people involved and there was potential for this kind of concept. What stinks even more is that players keep falling for this disrespectful garbage. It"s just a shame that not being in touch with your fans is a common occurrence these days.
