One of the best survival games I found. I had to get friends to accompany me in surviving it, couldn't have done it alone. The way the threats are presented and the fight for survival had a weird beauty in it. It is not merely jump-scares but well crafted situations that not only instill fear but leaves me terrorized. It genuinely drains me, and I'm glad, it is supposed to be this way. As I get good at fending for myself and even skilled at combat, killing the mutated people still leaves an unsettling feeling. The whole game atmosphere is twisted and absolutely FERAL! The voices of pure malice that echo through the woods and the growls and screeches of abominations that resonate through the dark caves is just spot on. I could never get used to the game and felt like my own sanity drops as the stats describe. It has different ways to play it which makes me want to try different approaches and go back in another time. But the ending was so heavy that I genuinely need a break. I would return to the forest, but I'll be gone for long. Everyone should definitely play the game at least once. The problem though would be that the game does not force the story upon you, which might make a lot of people give up on finding their son and leave the story altogether. But I don't think it is necessary that it appeals to everyone. I like it sometimes feels desolate and unforgiving with no real motive, that's what happens when you're stranded in the wild right?
