So I have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and got Dwarf Fortress a while back, only getting around to actually playing the game recently. I was struggling with the game in part due to my neurodivergency, but looked up whatever DFHack was after I saw it bouncing around the comments of various workshop mods for Dwarf Fortress. I installed it on a whim, and it made the game go from something I think is neat but shy away from to something I wholeheartedly love and will probably be putting way too much of my free time into. DFHack has so many helpful little thingies to it, in my case the most helpful being the option to let the DFHack client automate labor assignments for my dwarfs, so I can stop stressing about that part of the game and focus on the parts that tickles my ASD good, like base building! I cannot recommend DFHack enough if you want to enjoy Dwarf Fortress but are scared off by some of the more overwhelming functions of the game, especially if you're neurodivergent like me and/or have learning difficulties.
