Astroneer has grown quite a bit since it first came to Early Access. In its early days, I found this game to be interesting in concept, but lacking in content. I had barely put a couple hours into it before getting bored. Now, however, the game offers many hours of fun whether you're playing solo or co-op.

The art style is simple, but beautiful. The controls take some getting used to, but are smooth once you get the hang of them (numerous glitches notwithstanding). The game-play focuses on exploration, crafting, and researching new technology. There are no boss battles and no mobs hunting you down at night, but there are plenty of environmental dangers to overcome. There is no story-line, per se, but there are "secrets" to unravel and achievements to achieve (and yes, some of them actually unlock new in-game options). You collect resources, build your base, and eventually explore other planets. Plus there's quirky little "just for fun" bits that the devs have thrown in which always bring a laugh to any co-op game.

Overall, I find this a laid-back, yet compelling exploration of an adorable little solar system. I have 32 hours in the game so far and I'm not even to the mid-tier technology. If you enjoy games like Minecraft, Starbound, Space Engineers, No Man's Sky, or Terraria, I'd say give this a shot!
