If you enjoy tabletop RPGs, character building, and heroic fantasy adventures, you'll probably like Wildermyth. The graphics harken back to a simpler time of tabletop RPGs played with printed paper figures and theater-of-mind antics. It has quite a bit of content - In the 10 hours I've played, I've completed two campaigns, but each has replay value to some degree, and there's still more campaigns for me to explore!

I love that I have the option to create new characters for each campaign OR to bring along my heroes from previous campaigns, building their stories and abilities through multiple adventures. The procedural events make for an interesting method of character-building and storytelling, and so far, I've felt like it's executed quite well.

I do have one criticism, though: the writing can be... rough in places. The odd flow of writing and grammar mistakes make understanding the narrative difficult at times. I have to re-read text multiple times to try and understand what they're trying to say. If I had one suggestion for the game, I'd suggest they get an editor. Otherwise, I enjoy the humor and the vibrant descriptions!

I give Wildermyth a solid 8.5/10 👍

If you're a fan of survival games like DayZ or Project Zomboid, you'll probably like SoD2.

The game boasts a handful of systems that play off of one another quite well. I think this game lends its strength to the fact that the developers didn't try to add too many mechanics like some other survival games try to do. The combat is decent and even on standard difficulty, I found myself having to be tactical with how I approached hordes and infestations. Throw in some random events, basic faction relations, and character skill progression akin to RimWorld, and you've got dozens of hours worth of content to enjoy.

My only "complaint" about the game is that it lacks the polish of most triple AAA titles - the voice acting is a little hit or miss and the character models are... interesting.

Even so, Juggernaut Edition is well-worth the $30 price tag. I give SoD2: Juggernaut Edition a solid 8.5/10!

10/10 squirrels.

This is a game best played blind. The only thing I will say is that you should go into this game with an open mind because the Steam trailer/screenshots don't show the full picture - which is for the best. ;)

TL;DR: RPG fans, what are you waiting for?

Look at how many hours I've played.
I played hundreds more on my brother's account.
...And there are STILL quests, locations, and NPCs I've never experienced before.

This game came out 11 years ago. It's dated by today's standards. The graphics USED TO BE impressive. It has plenty of Bethesda™ Bugs. However, the modding community is insanely prolific and there's bug fixes, HD texture packs, and entire quest lines out there created by players and free for you to use. Most of the mods I use only make mild tweaks to the game and I still enjoy the hell out of it!

8/8 Divines, would (and will) play again.

Incredible development over the years

I first played WolfQuest in 2007 and immediately fell in love. It was a staple of my childhood from ages 12-15. I'm now 24, but I was so excited to hear my old beloved pass-time was getting a new rendition.

WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition is an amazing achievement from the developers (Eduweb). They have come so far in terms of graphics, gameplay, environment, and interactions within the world. I love that I can get lost in my middle school favorite again now as a college student (studying wildlife ecology, no less!).

If you like wolves, wildlife, simulation games, or are just looking for a unique indie experience, give WolfQuest a shot. The controls may take some getting used to, but approach it with an open mind and you may find yourself a new hit!

Did you ever watch shows like Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters as a kid? Well, this game lets you and your friends do exactly that - except with REAL ghosts. Terrifying, fun, and immersive. Multiplayer is an absolute blast and the game does a good job of encouraging coordination and teamwork. There's about a dozen ghost types and over half a dozen maps.

Only complaint I have is that the movement speed is too slow. You walk as if you broke both your ankles and have to painstakingly hobble around. "Running" is more akin to normal walking speed. Otherwise, it's well worth the price tag.

9/10, would recommend!

Astroneer has grown quite a bit since it first came to Early Access. In its early days, I found this game to be interesting in concept, but lacking in content. I had barely put a couple hours into it before getting bored. Now, however, the game offers many hours of fun whether you're playing solo or co-op.

The art style is simple, but beautiful. The controls take some getting used to, but are smooth once you get the hang of them (numerous glitches notwithstanding). The game-play focuses on exploration, crafting, and researching new technology. There are no boss battles and no mobs hunting you down at night, but there are plenty of environmental dangers to overcome. There is no story-line, per se, but there are "secrets" to unravel and achievements to achieve (and yes, some of them actually unlock new in-game options). You collect resources, build your base, and eventually explore other planets. Plus there's quirky little "just for fun" bits that the devs have thrown in which always bring a laugh to any co-op game.

Overall, I find this a laid-back, yet compelling exploration of an adorable little solar system. I have 32 hours in the game so far and I'm not even to the mid-tier technology. If you enjoy games like Minecraft, Starbound, Space Engineers, No Man's Sky, or Terraria, I'd say give this a shot!

Ape Out is a fantastic, fast-paced indie game with a unique style. The music creates the wild, frenetic atmosphere that gives combat a heart-thumping, yet satisfying feel. I expected the game play to feel stale after so many levels, but it remained surprisingly fresh. The levels are well-varied and continually brings new enemies to face and new tools for the player to utilize. As you play through the game, you piece together an understated story line that had me rooting for this violent, bright orange ape. Strategy and quick reflexes are a must in this - at times, quite challenging - game. It took me about 8 hours to beat on the basic difficulty, and in my opinion was well worth the full price of $15. I'd say if you're a fan of Hotline Miami or other similar games, definitely pick this one up!
