Early Access Review
This game is a childhood dream came true. I rememebr back when I was a young teenagers and me and my friends played some battlefront 2 (2005) space battles, flying around ships, boarding the ennemy capital ships and overall messing around. This game is a love letter to this genre.

Pros:
- Customization is easy and really open, also well balanced (some add-on have draw back and you have a budget)
- Teamwork is highly encouraged, you can't do things alone so count on your teamates.
- The battleships are pilotable and enjoyable to do so (you can also shoot a giant laser beam with it always being a plus)
- There are both squads and commander positions
- I have yet to have seen a ship that doesn't have it use
- Everything is player based, guns, repair, boarding and drop zones

Cons:
- Some map have choke points that can stall the game until the end making the attacker role a tad annoying
- Some guns seem more useful than others
- Steep learning curve, no tutorial, get in game and learn as you go.

Neutral:
- The AI is either canon fodder or pro players, most of the time if your comander order them around correctly they will be really useful.
- The graphics are okay, you can easily make the difference between friends or foe but it is an indy game, don't expect 4k graphics.
- Each team have a different set of weapons and vehicule meaning you need to customize for both side.

Overall I recommend this game just because of the shear pleasure of having an authentic space battle and the ability to play the game like you want. It is still in early access and I am having too much fun in the game winning or losing.

Good job devs.

I got this game as a gift and as sad that is I just had to come clear with the person that gave it to me that this game is simply not fun for me. Why? Well there is why:

I'm a solo player.

That's it, that is all you need to know and before the comment section get flooded with people telling me to "git gud" or stope whinning I will simply sumarize my current experience in RUST.

Like every body I start the game naked ona beach, walking around I notice a bunch of bases and so I start wandering the wild collecting a few ressources along the way. I get tools and because I am fully aware of how the game is I prepare myself two spears.

I keep wandering for a hour or two as I cross two people, one guy running away yelling "friendly" and another that just tried to hit me with a rock... despite my warnign and me clearly holding a spear. It did not end up so well for him, but he attacked me first. Eitherway I am wandering the place and decide ona place to instal myself, not to close of any other base, so I make a blueprint and start building... and a guy in a bow immediately enter the place where I just put a door there and instantly kill me.

I took a breather and restarted... what else could I do? I restart the whole thing and reach the base... I than get shot by a bowman and fall down and after explaining I am a first time player he let me live, apologize and even give me wood. I was glad not everyone in this game where nice, so I made my base and prepare to go get some wood nearby... just to hear four giggling teenagers telling me "Hi". I turn around and I just see the end of a shotgun before he blow my head into bits. I woke up in my base and there they are again... blowing my brain (again).

So... RUST... honestly not a bad game but most of their players are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... even if I saw a glimmer of hope I will not touch this game again.

Before you scroll down and see all the other review stating this game is not Final Fantasy tactic well, no it is not final fantasy tactic it is Children of Zodiarc, if you wish to play Final fantasy tactic... go buy it. Now that it is out of the way I'll start my review.

- Gameplay -

Game mechanic

The game is a grid based strategy role playing game (SRPG) and thus the gameplay include two player face player and ennemy. Doing those face you can move your characters and do several other options and it is where the game get interesting.

Children of Zodiarc employ a deck building mechanic meaning that the character do not have any ability list per say, each character have a set based ability cards that they unlock by leveling up and you can, in between missions, personalize their decks.

Additionally, the game have a dice mechanic during ability usage. What it mean is that you are never sure how your ability will turn out. You can craft and change dices to help the odds in your favor, but at the end of the turn the dices are the one that will dictate if your turn go well and not.

Personally, I found those mechanic quite interesting as it raise the strategic uncertainties. You can not become too powerful in this game that you just wipe the floor with your ennemies with only one unit and it make it a challenging strategy game.

Characters and party

(Disclaimer: I am aproximatively at halfway point I do not know anything beyong the start of act 3 when I am writing this review)

From what I played so far the game is mostly about surviving with what you have. Most of the time your party will be about 2-4 characters big against ennemies that can easily reach over 10 units of the same level (if it is not higher). In that sense the game is quite hard as you need to make most of your character move count, or else your party will crumble.

Each character have their pre-determined role in the party with a few tweak here and there depending on their deck built. Some are better at doing physical damage and others magical. The challenge of the game is to mainly being able to manage your party to avoid unecessary fall and make sure your characetrs attack the ennemies they should.

There is no class change, equipements or actual money or shop in the game. everything is directly linked to your character levels and the dices you use. The better the dices, the better stats you will have in combat.

- Story and Lore -

The game story is a run out of the mill RPG game. In a world that seen lot of dark age a few abandon kids from the slum raise to oppose corrupted nobles and steal an ancient artefact from them.

I will not go too deep into this, but it is a case of "if it is not broken don't fix it". Simple story, but an interesting dystopian city in a fantasy like universe.

- Art Direction -

The sprite work on this game are pretty good. The characters are easily recognizable without being too overcharged and their personality shine in their facial expression and dialogues. You can easily tell lot of effort was put on them both for the main characters and the ennemies.

The soundtrack is pretty good as most of the song mesh pretty well with the game maps you can tell the feel of a scene instantly from the music and it help the immersion.

The 3d spirtes on another part are not really bad, but nothing out of the ordinary. You can easily tell what unit is what but there is not much diversity in them. The ragdoll physique when a unit die can at time be janky and all over the place, but I guess it is good for a laugh when an ennemy decide to slingshot off to the moon.

- Easy to read summary -

Pros:

- Fresh and intriguing Game mechanic
- Good looking game overall
- Good strategy gameplay focused on a small party
- Not too easy , but not too hard
- Intriguing World
- Battles that are never the sames

Cons:

- Personalization of the party is not possible
- Some 3D models look a bit odd and bland
- Camera angles that get stuck behind map objects on certain maps

Neutral:

- Linear story
- A bad roll dice can screw your whole game
- A good roll dice can save your game
- Is a story based single player experience

Overall, it is a good indie game I reccomend to everyone liking challenging SRPG.

I didn't try the game for an extended period but I do not believe I had to.

The game is simple. There is a room go through it... simple enough? Well think again because wverything in this game is here to kill you devs included.

Before people say I am whinning about the difficulty let me explain myself. The game have two main point from what the description say: exploration and combat. Those are the main point of metrovania games. In this game through neither of those are fun.

The climbing is slow and tedious. One failure will make you fall to tour death or eat away 1/3 of your health for falling the height of your character...

Far from being a fair game it is only about trying to survive the devs boogie traps. It is nor fun nor enjoyable.

To be fair there is one thing the devs go well and it is the visuals. The rooms does look strangely futuristic and empty and the character model have a good fluidity to it.

Despite the nice visual I judge this is not a game worth buying.

I wrote a review years ago about the game. I was an immature idiot back then and thus I will rectify it.

This game is a cute and unique game that all rpg maker enjoyers should try. It is cheap, the idea of it is interesting.

Yes it sometime suffer from pressing z on everything syndrom, but the creator had a special idea that is worth witnessing. if you have 5$ or even less on sale, think about throwing it at this game and enjoy it for a few hours.

I used to love that game and when I remember this existence I redownload it, only to be greatly disapointed by it content... If you have money to burn go ahead and buy those one shot kill weapons... if you want to have fun, look elsewhere.

I saw the review and told myself it can not be THAT bad... oh god I was wrong. If you want to play without spending a cent be ready to see yourself get one-shot over and over by a whale.

Sadly I can not recommend this game.

The story is good (not great but good), the level design is ingenious that is true, but it is lacking any sort of meat around the bone. You can easily complete the game in an hour and a half. It have some little elements of a platformer, fighting and puzzle game, but none of the challenge of them.

I can understand it was made by a really little team, but it doesn't excuse the major lack of content the game suffer. Sometime some puzzles elements are only passed through once and than gone with them.

The good side of the game is the art associate with it and the music. None of the music actually feel like it is repetitive. The voice acting... could be better, but it isn't the worst I have seen really. The fact you can destroy some walls was a really nice touch, but do not explain the price for it.

Overall I would say to not buy it, it is throwing money by the window. As much I would love to encourage the dev this isn't worthing to be a game with a price tag on it.
