As someone who bought the game new and lamented it's quality at the time, THIS is basically a redemption arc for Sofia. Troy and Pharaoh felt small on their own, but when combined alongside Mesopotamia it truly feels like a full game finally, and it's a shame it never called itself "Total War: Bronze Age" but hey, huge props to CA and thanks for letting Sofia cook!

Thrones of Decay among other changes is a great change, hopefully CA continues this momentum and they can leave this game in a fantastic state in a year or two. Thanks for listening to fan feedback CA, hope to see either a 40K Total War or even a World War 1 Total War from you at some point!

I don't often post reviews but the recent decision to halt development of this game is a shameful display. Cao Cao is the most decently fleshed out faction; the most galling undeveloped character/faction is Liu Bei. He deserved his own expansion; as well as an heir character for Liu Shan. Sun Quan also feels undercooked; he and Liu Shan would have made for a cool rivals DLC. No Chi-bi. No Fan Castle. No Wuzhang Plains. No Ma Teng diversity. The promised northern expansion is also dead, as is any hope of a Korean culture pack. Unless CA plans on integrating this content into their "Three Kingdoms 2" then I feel betrayed, and sold more of a 1.5 Kingdoms rather than a 3 Kingdoms. A complete Cao Cao expansion and only 1 son of Sun Jian expansion does not equate to a whole 3 Kingdoms!

Thank god for mod support, really baffled at this decision CA.

Just tried to play this game for a little bit. Launched the game about 30 minutes ago. 4 or 5 uplay updates later and I'm still waiting to play. The Uplay updater CRASHED trying to update itself. So thanks Ubisoft for effectively wasting my time for no damn reason.

Oh, the game is fun, yes, but geez, it's not worth that long of a wait. Uplay is garbage; polluting what is otherwise a decent gameplay experience.

As a newcomer to the series I'm quite happy with this game. The combat is fast and visceral and the characters are all pretty diverse and play differently. Had a pretty fun time with the game overall, not much more to say.

Recommended most definitely at a discount; and to some extent even at it's base price.

Look, I for one thought SSJ Sun Jian was kinda badass looking. Realism be damned.

The outfits from DW 6 had their pros and cons, but me having played DW 6 Empires religiously years ago I couldn't help rekindle their former bombastic glory. For $2.99 I didn't feel cheated in acquiring so many outfit changes for officers, so as far as price points go I felt this was fair enough.

Worth a look-see if you yearn for more alternate outfits for the unique officers for a relatively cheap buy-in price. No gameplay changes present here, but having this degree of customization is to be appreciated.

It's nice to get content, and as someone who enjoys creating characters I couldn't help but give this a try.

After going through all the extra options though; it doesn't make me feel like the $10 was well spent.

As I understand it Koei is aiming to utilize Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires as a free to play game in the future alongside this current release with the caveat being cosmetic DLC for the freemium iteration; while I understand the price tag's purpose there I just can't see the reason for it here. Heck, some of the really cool hair styles are in this pack and thus are behind a paywall.

If you've money to spare and enjoy the character creation, this will no doubt help you to vary up your officers that little bit more. However, if you're strapped for cash, be wary of steam sales and consider getting this discounted; compared to other $10 DLC's this is pretty meager stuff.

My previous review no longer stands.

Oh, my graphical gripes persist, sad though I am to say. It hasn't hurt my experience too badly in the grand scheme of things though.

I really like this game. I get to carry around a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arrow tower in my bare hands at times, my eyes float above my head, and sometimes, SOMETIMES I like to take interest in other officers' struggles. I'm only a demi-god sent to the realm of China to wreak bloody mayhem, give me a break.

The high point, in my opinion, is the character creator ala CAW system. My god the possibilities. If you really want to you can create so many different characters. It's incredible. Aaand the graphical glitches don't persist nearly as much in the Edit Mode as they do in the regular play modes. Consistency! (There is none...)

So the game has it's faults; though my own faults are using a subpar graphics card. Still, I'll take my arrow tower into my hands and liberate ancient China regardless, and if any of that sounded interesting you might want to look into this game too!

(Warning: You may or may not be able to wield an arrow tower in your hands. Those with decent graphics cards need not apply)
