As someone who got into PC gaming because of DayZ Mod, I was super excited for the release of DayZ Standalone. When this game first released in early access back in 2013, it was very barebones with massive optimization problems. 2-3 years go by with very little improvements pushing a lot of people back to DayZ Mod, which at the time was very dated. At this point, many consider DayZ Standalone a flop, with many claiming that the game was dead.

Fast forward almost 9 years from early access launch, and I'm sure we can safely say this game has made a complete 180. The game is very optimized with a thriving player base. Not to mention that there is mod support, which can provide a completely unique experience from base game DayZ. If you're a roleplayer or a PvP buff, this game can provide the experience you are looking for. As someone who's followed the game since it came out and has been very critical towards the game after its early access launch, I can safely say DayZ is one of the best open world survival games on the market. Buy it, you won't regret it.
