An absolutely stellar game, both as a fighting game and as a Dragon Ball game. The plot isn't half-bad and the numerous dialogue between the various characters are extremely fun to listen to as a Dragon Ball fan. The music is awesome, if a little on the repetitive side since there are a lot of dialogue scenes in this game where you'll here one of a few tracks, but typically the action and the conversations are engaging enough for me to overlook it.

Goku and the entire DBZ cast look better than they ever have in any other video game, beating out even Xenoverse 2's graphics by a considerable margin in terms of proper homage to the designs within the franchise. The effects are gorgeous and there have to be dozens of little nods to the series within the roster, with most, if not all attacks, having appeared in the Dragon Ball manga/anime at one point or another.

The gameplay is super crisp and smooth. I don't have the chance to play fighting games often, FighterZ only being my second 'real' fighter, however, I still found much enjoyment in the game, even when I floundered around trying to figure out how to do some proper non-automatic combos. New players to the genre will have fun and will quickly pick up on the intricacies of the combat, whilst genre veterans will be able to pull off awesome combos where you can truly feel like you're a part of the Dragon Ball universe.

I have not tried the online component, so I will not comment on it quite yet.

Overall, 9.5/10. An absolutely amazing game that both fighting game fans and Dragon Ball fans will adore for a long time. Any fighting games coming out this year are going to have some seriously stiff competition from ArcSystem's Dragon Ball FighterZ. Don't pass this game up, or you will seriously be missing out.
