It's genuinely difficult to come up with a good reason that anyone should subject themselves to this more than once.

There are several parts of this that feel like the most tedious and unrewarding things From Software have produced since the infamous Horse ♥♥♥♥ Valley in DS2, and the fact there are several such possible comparisons of "I'll do this once and then never look at it again" is a dangerous sign.

The map is far too large for its own good, there are massive open, empty, unpopulated zones. Far more egregiously than anything in the base game where at least you could rely upon stumbling into a random catacomb to break things up. The scadutree fragment system is the exact sort of nonsense gamers make fun of in literally every other open world game ever made where designers solve a problem that didn't need to exist; in this case needlessly spiking the DLC difficulty (something that they've never bothered with before) and then needing to create a solution (run around the map collecting mulligans to equalize the power imbalance). This is not good design here, just as it isn't anywhere else.

Even so, a lot of this would be forgivable if the last boss was memorable for the right reasons, but he's not. Consort might legitimately be Fromsoft's jump the shark moment where they were too busy smelling their own farts and designed a boss that is truly all about difficulty with no real consideration for if it's fun to do. On top of that, it's an optimization mess, with a lot of the absurd over-clutter visually in the second phase causing legitimate framerate tanks that have been reported across virtually all hardware specs.

This is not a good DLC, even if it has some strong moments. There are some very memorable bosses and a lot of good loot. But it's impossible to take someone rating this as Fromsoft's crowning moment seriously.
