Very fun Tactical FPS. Far better gameplay and gunplay than it's successor, Insurgency's gameplay is tight and snappy, and you can commit most of your normal source game shenannigans. once again, FAR BETTER THAN SANDSTORM.

Game funI guess, but the lack of a Dedicated Italian faction is an unforgivable crime.

pay no attention to my hours count, I have been playing this game since it came out well over a decade ago, and I still love it is much now as I did then.
GAMEPLAY:
the gameplay of the Codename: Panzers series is rather different. rather than build a base, gather resources and build swarms of units like you would in a more traditional RTS, this game works more like a tabletop wargame: you are given a set number of points, and all of your units have a point cost. you must then build a list of forces that you will lead into combat. this means that you must think carefully about what to bring to what kind of fight, as well as making you be more cautious about sending in your units, as they cannot be replaced. all of your infantry units can be equipped with ger to increase their combat effectiveness, such as grenades, molotov cocktails, and minesweepers.

CAMPAIGN:
The campaign is split into three, for each faction in the game: Axis, fighting with the Italians and the germans in the early stages of north africa, the British, fighting the axis from the battle of EL-Alamein onwards through the Italian mainlaind, and finally the Soviet campaign, where you take the role of Yugoslav partisans, and later the soviet union, working to liberate yugoslavia from the Axis occupation. the story is well thought out, with each one being fairly satisfying to follow through.

MUSIC:
The music, while not exactly on par with the music of the first game, is still incredibly good, even now. the drums and brass evoke a very militaristic feeling from the music, with more exotic instruments in use to help set the scene of desert warfare.

Overall, Codename: Panzers phase two is a wonderful game, and I cannot recommend it more.
