It's on the short-list for my favourite game of all time. I've given a number of friends copies of this game, and they never play it through... it's baffling, but I think I know why.

The magic of this game doesn't show through when you first open it up. It starts out appearing like a subpar high school teen drama. The art style is pretty, but the lip sync is relatively weak. The introduction to game mechanics takes far too long IMO, and Chapter 1 (the one that is now free, with the intent of hooking you) is the wealest chapter in terms of both story and technical merits. The musical score is incredible all the way along, though.

I don't want to spoil the story, I'd rather you play it! But it's a cinema quality story centred around the ability to rewind time... Choices you make truly matter and you set yourself deep in the character's shoes... it's truly masterfully made.

Get Season 1 as a pack when it goes on sale and power through Ep 1... Trust me!

Makes me want to self-harm thinking I paid $55 for this game two years ago and missed the refund window by a mere day.
If for some reason you want to buy this ♥♥♥♥ in 2018, let me tell you what this game entails:

1. Run around looking for your friend for hours. No map or any real markera of where you are.
2. Stumble upon another person. They'll have a gun. Prepare for them to laugh incessantly about 'raping' you.
3. Get beat to death with a blunt object.
Repeat

Seriously, this game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HORRENDOUS.

I have never previously played any Sniper Ghost Warrior games, or anything by CI Games, so I came into this expecting nothing. After playing for an hour and half, I'm coming away without seeing any glaring flaws in the game, but finding nothing at all exceptional to suck me in.

The story... it's the kind of mediocre story that a 2nd rate shooter from 2007 would come with. Without spoiling anything, the story involves macho 'leet special forces bros', missing family and love interests back home. The missions they're sent on are generic as all hell, they're poorly executed COD Modern Warfare clones.

The graphics are good, not great. The gun mechanics are mediocre, but not terrible. There're too many shooters that're far better and far cheaper than this... Are you going to find yourself replaying a 5-6/10 game? Probably not. I sure as heck won't.

It's a good start, but, meh.

CSGO is the kind of game that is going to engulf your entire life. You will get trashed your first few hundred hours in the game. If you are starting out, watch some tutorials (people like the War Owl and Adren make great videos), and look at playing competitive mode and 1v1s in the community servers list. The community is often toxic (especially in the lower ranks); and if you want to get out of them you need to mute your team, put your head down and focus on getting better. Enjoyment doesn't come from playing the game, but from improving at it... I've never experienced any other game quite the same way...
