Its not Half Life Alyx, and going into the game expecting that experience, you will be disappointed. But if you"re looking for a fun, linear horror shooter in VR, you"ll probably enjoy it. Especially if you like Metro.

Pros:
-Gun handling and shooting feels pretty good. The animations and characters are wild to see interacting in VR, something we get so rarely.
-Stealth, especially against human enemies carrier quite well across from the mainline Metro games and works pretty decently.
-Some extremely well done combat and horror sequences.
-Its a very pretty game (with caveats) and enough to be quite immersive at times.
-Being able to wipe your gas mask visor is cool as heck.
-Some of the most terrifying spiders I"ve ever experienced in a game. If you DO NOT have arachnophobia (even mildly), I strongly recommend keeping the spiders enabled.

Cons:
-Some of the creature AI can be cheesed, especially regarding navigation. Furthermore, some of their animations feel like they don"t have weight, especially when pulling corners.
-Spiders feel a bit too tanky, and latch back onto your face very fast after getting them off. I could just be panicking and missing shots (skill issue) but after the spider has jumped on my face for the 4th time, the terror is turning into frustration.
-The environments feel constantly at odds with interactive elements. Things that feel like I should be able to interact with aren"t, and as a result I often miss interactive stuff because I assume they"re all static.
-There"s a few sequences that play on a little too long or are repeated too many times (Rail cart with a machine gun).
-Some graphics are pretty lacking, namely model and texture detail. Pop-in is pretty harsh too. I figure this is down to hardware requirements of the Quest 3. Would be good to see expanded options for PCVR. (Worth noting a recent patch added parallax occlusion mapping, which goes a long way in terms of texture detail for the environments.)

I"ve finished the game now. Its not perfect, but definitely worth the price. I"m keen to see what the devs get up to next.

Hot tip: You can punch some of the enemies. This is useful, especially in the early game where ammo is incredibly scarce. I thought I was softlocked when I was out of ammo at the start of a chapter.

Edit: They ran a patch not long ago which addressed a few of the issues I had. I"ve adjusted my review accordingly.

Its VERY hard for newcomers and you may not get a kill for a solid hour, but its also a very different approach when it comes to first person shooters. Quite fun once you get the hang of it.

Early Access Review
The game is awesome, the people you"ll run into, (on high pop servers especially), not so much.

CS:GO Review
Definitely worth the money. Lots of frantic moments, and a massive (although slightly toxic) community. Only gripe is that as a mapper, the csgo workshop is an absolute moshpit of content, making it very hard to be seriously noticed.

Pretty great if you find a good MP community, SP doesnt really have good pacing or long term goals without mods but I"ve gotten my money"s worth

"I want to give this a positive review so bad, but there"s just nothing much being done on this game anymore. This games strength is definitely within its destruction, the devs just need to make more use of it.

Wait a few months. It can be reanimated yet." -Old Review

I havent gotten back into it much, but the game has been revived of sorts. I still think there needs to be more use of the amazing destruction engine this game has, but there"s definitely much more worth checking out.
