I thought I loved Half Life as much as anyone, the absolute legends responsible for this divine remake proved me wrong. 10/10.

Walk around endlessly picking up rubbish in a world where nobody wants to talk to you.

This game has a number of problems, the main problem is that Bethesda wants to turn Fallout into a Mass Effect style first person shooter with the illusion of a role playing element. You don't even say hello to people anymore, you cough at the back of their heads to start an interaction. And when they turn around you exclaim 'HELLO JAKE!" even though you have never met them, and have no right to know their name. Moving on, you ask them one question, they ask you one question and then the conversation is over....regardless of whether you wanted to keep talking. How very very impressive the new voiced character system is Bethesda! Can not wait for the next Elder Scrolls game to be the most disappointing release of all time. (joke, they would never voice act the elder scrolls player character, they give a ♥♥♥♥ about that franchise)

Interplay Fallout: are games based around the rebuilding of society after a nuclear war. This used to manifest itself as numerous settlements; vault city, the hub, new reno, ncr, etc all of these settlements had multiple quest giving characters and had relationships with the other settlements that you could mould with your actions.

Bethesda Fallout: are games based around imagining what it would be like if a nuke flattened ONE city, that one city partially comes back to life, and everywhere else simply becomes inhabited by either raiders, super mutants, or ghouls. You walk around shooting the inhabitants of all of these buildings until you get bored, then you complete the 10 main story quests and put a different game on.

The map is beautiful and the interiors are better than I have seen in any game of this scale. The character models are massively improved, and the armour options are great. The community of modders will turn this game into something really special eventually, but it is going to take a year or two for an extensive fix.

Addictive, fairly simple, and brilliant.

FTL is for those of us who can accept failure, over and over and over and over and over again. If you find yourself screaming "BUT IT'S NOT FAIR!" at computer games then it might not be for you. There is an element of random chance involved, you will invest hours into a ship only to see it blown to pieces by a single beam drone and a turn of fate.

You will spend 2 hours upgrading a ship, accounting for every eventuality, only for a mid-range ship to hack your weapons rendering the last 120 minutes of your life a complete waste of time. At this point you will either smile and try again or you will smash your monitor and find a game that cares about your feelings.

FTL, like life, is not about the destination, it's about the journey, buy it now.

Early Access Review
I think this might be the first game in the history of man kind that is more fun to watch than to play. Look at any youtube channel that has provided a DayZ series and you will see uploaders inundated with requests for more 'content'. That is because it is enjoyable to see 50 hours of DayZ gameplay edited into a 20 minute action packed video.

Moving around feels like you are driving a russian car through custard, shooting a gun is like trying to urinate on a wasp....just trying to pick something up off the floor can give you a panic attack. But it is an alpha, they might fix all of that.

When in 2014 you watch a 'devblog' and the Pièce de résistance is that the loot is now going to be on desks and in cupboards, rather than in piles in the corner of rooms...maybe a few million is not enough to fix the inherent problems?

I really really hope that they make an amazing game, but I have a strong feeling that this would have been better off as a fabled mod. Gotta give a thumbs up, if only for the enjoyment I have experienced watching other people play.

Shadowgrounds is a game that belongs in the 1990s. I downloaded it thinking it'd provide a bit of local co-op entertainment, after an hour of configuration to get 2 xbox controllers to work in tandum I discovered that it is a complete waste of time and money.
