Update 11/5/20

The game got patched 3 days ago, and it hasn"t gotten better. The bugs that were in the previous version got fixed, but new, almost worse ones took their place. They fixed the "update game options" bug, but that has been replaced with a packet error that also kicks you out of the server. They also introduced a bug that, when you click on someone in the vote menu, it selects someone else, and if you aren"t paying attention you can vote the wrong person off. This game is still not in the position it should be.

This game is weird but...I like it.

On paper, the main idea behind this game sucks; running around as a guy who slays monsters and goes on fetch quests and trade sequences, trying to solve a mystery. But in reality, this game is pretty fun, it"s weird.

Pros:

Great graphics for 2007 that still hold up to this day.
FANTASTIC soundtrack.
Interesting storyline.
Fun combat system (though it"s a bit too simple). Fun concept, but it"s poorly executed.

Cons:

The whole game is built around trade sequences and fetch quests, which get boring at times due to just how many there are. Not to mention it"s basically going back and forth numerous times until you get to a major story beat.
The story is nice, but it"s poorly executed. Chapter 4 is a prime example; you are basically trying to calm a conflict between two civilizations, and then all of a sudden the game throws on you that you need to kill some evil lake monster. It basically comes out of nowhere, and all of a sudden you"re fighting some random boss with no backstory to it.
A bit too long, hard, and frustrating. Sometimes you just want to get through the chapter and move on to the next one. Basically, an issue with padding.
Game runs pretty poor on lower end PCs. Witcher 3 runs better. Basically, these old games are heavily CPU focused, which means if you have an older processor, or one that"s maybe on the cheaper side, this game will not run very well. Average for me on an FX-4300 is around 50 fps, which is playable, but sometimes frame drops can go as low as 10 or 20 fps.
Loading times are a relatively quick, but there"s just so many of them.

Team Fortress 2. A game that was released in 2007, on an engine from 2002. Valve has had 13+ years to make this one of the greatest games ever created, yet they have failed. They have left this game to rot away and crumble to dust. The foundation for the perfect game is all there, but Valve"s incompetence has left this game to fall apart. The imbalance, the poor frame rate, the lack of updates, the broken mechanics, it"s too much to bear. This game will soon disappear from our lives forever, it"s just a matter of when. When will the weight of this game"s problems overwhelm and overtake the positives, and throw this game to the bottom of the trash bin? All of the memories, all of the fun, all of the frags, all of it will still be there, but you will never be able to experience it again. All because Valve decided to turn Team Fortress 2 into a war-themed hat simulator, and not a team based first person shooter. It"s unfortunate really. Part of me regrets not spending more time as a F2P Engineer on 2Fort setting up sentries in the intel room. Part of me regrets spending so much of my life on a class that relies on a faulty, broken mechanic. Part of me wants this game to survive for the rest of my life. Part of me wishes the game would die tomorrow. But until the day comes where the curtain finally closes on this game, I"ll be sitting here behind my monitor trying to make the best of the flawed gem that is Team Fortress 2.

It"s so boring. I don"t understand the point of this game. I mean, I have read all the guides and walkthroughs, I"ve had other people tell me how to play it, it"s just so boring. Think of it like this; you"re exploring a gigantic sandbox. The sandbox is as far as the eyes can see. The sandbox has absolutely nothing in it. You cannot explore but a fraction of a percent of this sandbox unless you upgrade your equipment, and even then there"s no point because there"s nothing to be desired by exploring the sandbox further. You get to create things that help you do stuff...but like...it doesn"t tell you how to make them, you have to figure that out on your own, and the things you make don"t really help you at all. This game is a glorified sandbox with nothing in it to do. Not to mention this game runs poorly.
