Early Access Review
Pub sim decently captures the spirit of running a British pub, minus the sticky floors and questionable music choice. The graphics are simple, but are pretty standard with similar simulators. I have experienced a few visual bugs, but nothing game breaking, this game is in early access, after all.

There is progression in this game, but if you wish to forgo all and just open your dream establishment, cheats can be enabled to facilitate this. Overall pretty fun, needs some work ironing out some of the kinks, but it will get there, the price is very reasonable for what has been delivered, so if you like similar management games, give this one a go.

An addictive game, where chaos reigns supreme. If your go-to attitude is "shoot first, ask questions never" then, honestly, you might have some issues, regardless, this will be the perfect game for you. You can team up with friends to grab even more cash to upgrade your weapons further. It's cheaply priced and has plenty of achievements to kill time completing.

Currently this game is a solid zombie co-op game, we're missing a few features, but it is still in Early Access and I look forward to what the future of this game is going to look like. Keep up the good work!

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of those rare beloved games of the past decade that didn’t need to exist when we have other shooters like Putin vs ISIS and CS:GO I guess are the biggest examples. The story is very self contained in the most out of the box way. It’s not knowing what happened, its knowing how it happened. This story will forever be in the back of my mind when playing most other games, hardly anything I have played even compares to this marvel of story telling genius, the twists and oh my, the darkest of turns, things that even the greatest writers couldn’t even make up. I don’t want to tell you too much, so before you read this, I would recommend buying this game, or at least watching some content on it, because this game really smashes the likes of Santa Girl VR and the visual indie masterpiece that is Hades. Anyway, now you have watched/played some of this gods work we can get down to business.

So we start this story in the household of the famed Bristol Family, this family were well known in the local community for being exceptionally wealthy, not only this, but also their devil of a child Winston Bristol was known as the local spoiled brat that got anything and everything he liked. Winston was sick and twisted, not in a Jeffrey Dahmer way, more in a Wants to watch people battle it out to the death for fun kind of sick and twisted. Of course little Winston rarely got to live out his dreams of watching people fight to the death, as you know, its not particularly common in the modern world, even when the Bristol Family thrived their were few fights that went to the death.

Like most things, his proper blood lust came later in life, his got his first taste for this on his 14th Birthday where he had been given 3 new nannies to teach him the way of the teen life, but of course he instantly had nefarious thoughts, eventually he started talking behind the backs of these innocent women, making them all hate each-other, then he would try to pit them against each-other. This of course wasn’t a piece of cake, he really had to say some horrible things, but he didn’t care of course, he was remorseless, this was in his nature, he finally started to get them to fight by asking them to, for a price of course. He realised from this young age that money really is everything and most will do literally anything to get their hands on some juicy cash, even beating their colleagues to death. Which is exactly what happened, 2 of the nannies managed to rupture the lung of the other, they sadly died not that far after this rough event.

Of course when the police checked the scene of this gruesome crime, they of course didn’t think it could have been the kid that did this and Winston new this would happen and managed to not only frame his very wealthy parents, but also get off Scot-free, it was the perfect crime. From here on little Winston gained control of the entire Bristol estate in which he used to manipulate more poor souls to fight it out for his general enjoyment, he was so strapped for cash, he didn’t even notice it as a proper expense. He never needed to work, he just spent all day making up new scenarios to put people into to make it more and more fun for him and difficult for the victims.

The Bristol family owned many a thing, including a large Scientific research company and a metric load of property, which is where the riches of this family originally came from. Of course Winston used his mass scientific knowledge and resources to make his fights even more interesting, one of their most interesting discoveries was, an advanced lighting system that when exposed to an open wound or even just a simple paper cut would easily heal hit within only a few seconds. This meant that he could force people to fight to the death with little to know risks, which of course kind of defeated the point, but its one of the main ways he managed to stay not caught for so long.

If this story wasn’t messed up enough, it gets worse, a lot worse. Winston managed to adopt children, still to this day, no one knows how this feat happened, although we all have an idea, usually a parent should be checked to make sure they are fit to be a parent, but everyone thinks that Winston just bribed to inspector to pass him, which yes is exceptionally unmoral, but as someone that pit people against each-other to fight to the death, this is literally nothing. He didn’t just adopt 1 or 2, he adopted an entire orphanage worth, around the 80-90 mark, remember Winston is wealthy and had no guide in this field, he also had a large house with enough rooms to easily house all these children.

So What is the next step from here, well of course train them into your own private militia, he hired in ex special forces to show these kids the ropes of fighting styles, gun play and even computer hacking in some cases. He let the different children choose what they enjoyed doing best, whether it was making traps or going stealthy and sneaking around unnoticed, he let them run wild in his house as long as followed his every move in the time that counts, the fights. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself, how would you name or even remember names for so many children. Winston was smart, he gave all his children a sort of nickname, we can call it a codename, like Echo, Frost or Glaz, just as some examples. All these kids were different ages, ethnicities and family backgrounds, none of that mattered, the only thing that mattered is how efficient they were in the battle.

I said before that the Bristol Family had a large network of property around the world, Winston used these various properties for his fights, he would usually pit up to 5 vs 5 people at once on these properties, where they would be forced to fight with various weapons, including real guns, knives and even other brutal melee weapons such as sledgehammers. People would get hurt, in some cases die, but luckily for him, he had science on his side, where he could easily wipe memories and heal wounds to a point that no one could tell or remember a difference.

I said it gets worse, we’re almost there, don’t worry, we’re almost done. Eventually Winston realised he could earn even more money from this, he found out that some of his eccentric billionaire friends also enjoyed watching people battle. So he setup a system where the children had to listen to the commands of these important people, so its as if they were in a real video game and had control of their own avatar. The children have to listen to the commands or they will be shocked, electrically. The only down time these poor children had was between matches and whilst the important people were sleeping. In which time they were either sleeping themselves or training to be better at their chosen craft.

So, I told you it was a dark tale, but this is just the beginning of what this wickedly marvellous game is about, if you want to find out more, you will have to put in the hours properly, I would say I am only about half way to knowing the real depth of this story. This is certainly one of my darker reviews so I hope I haven’t offended anyone, but I am just talking about some key points in this game. I understand its not very normal to ask to buy a game and play it before a review has even started, but this is a special case that had to be addressed.

The developers of this game clearly have their heads screwed on correctly as this game is priced fairly appropriately for what the game is, unlike some of the other gaming masterpieces I have not only witnessed but also played and reviewed (so check them out as well). I would whole heartedly recommend this game, it may have been one of the darkest tales I have ever heard and told people about, but its well worth it, as no other games gets even close to rivalling it. Next time you’re searching through amazon for some useless garbage you have convinced yourself you need, like a pocket popcorn maker, forget it and buy this game.

At its core, Getting Over It is a game about the death of hope. Its about learning to find something to cling to in a pointless existence of murder and regret and then watching it turn to ashes before your very eyes. But that kernel of anguish is buried deep down in an adventure that demands to be explored deeply. So lets get stuck into this game together in word form.

This story follows out protagonist, none other than Vladimir Putin. Vladimir was birthed on the 7th of October 1952 in Leningrad which is now formally known as Saint Petersburg, he was the youngest of 3 children, which didn’t help him much in his childhood, he was often bullied by his brethren, name calling and physical abuse, but none of this deterred him from being a well mannered, he unfortunately bottled all his feelings up inside, which of course like any other human being, didn’t do him any good in the long run.

If that wasn’t bad enough his parents weren’t big fans of him either, from a young age he was forced to bathe in a caldron, where his father would plunge him under for minutes at a time to teach him a lesson. Again as always Vladimir just bottled it up, like always this took tolls on his mental health. After years and years of being half drowned in this horrible metal caldron, his parents realised he was getting a little too big for it, but didn’t stop the torture.

There were many things that led up to little Vlad’s eventual presidency, but I am not in the mood for writing his autobiography for him. So I have only covered the backstory needed to explain the severe trauma this poor child went through. Any way back to the story and a little further into the future.

Fast forward a little bit (aka over 50 years) Vladimir Putin and Donald trump were getting it on at a presidential party held in the Whitehouse, they were telling each other everything, as if they were 10 years old at a sleep over. All the secrets, the many war crimes they had committed, with all the horrible, gruesome details. They were surprisingly close during the reign that was The Donald. Of course they didn’t let the public know such things, they hid it from everybody, I mean of course they would, two of the most powerful people one earth hitting it off, it would be like Kim Jong Un and Queen Elizabeth releasing a sex tape. It just wouldn’t go down well.

But like any relationship, it failed, they had an argument over something fairly small (for them), someone fairly low walked in on them talking and Vladimir instantly ordered him to be killed, Donald did not like this side of Vladimir. So they broke it off.

Anyway, one thing led to another and just like most relationships ended with 2 world leaders destroying the planet. This lovers quarrel ended with both parties hunkering down in a Nuclear bunker firing countless Nuclear weapons at each-other. I don’t want to say who started it. Okay it was Vlad, he cowered in his bunker with nothing but his most wanted possesions and some basic survival tools and rations. He fired the first missile, directly at the white house. But closely following his, the United States fired everything, literally everything, Vlad followed his cue and also let everything go.

Vladimir instantly got notified to get into cover, under a table, anything, his eyes darted around, they locked on to his old bathing caldron from so long ago, some swine had clearly packed it with his stuff. Reluctantly he climbed inside the – rather small now – caldron. He also grabbed a sledgehammer just in case he got stuck, then he could attempt to break it or at least dent it to give him some room to escape its cold metal within.

Luckily for him the caldron did shield him from the large shock wave that hit. But it wasn’t quite enough, he was knocked out, for goodness knows how long, could have been hours, could have been days, we’re none the wiser. Upon waking up Vladimir was in an intense amount of pain. When he tried to move, he seemed to be trapped, trying to be smart he tried getting out of the caldron, which now only held his legs, but for some reason he couldn’t move them, he grabbed the sledgehammer and hit the outside of the caldron as hard as he could, Vlad belted out a blood curdling scream.

The radioactive blast seems to have melded the caldron to his legs and become one, nerves and all. This was inconvenient to say the least, but this didn’t stop him he tried dragging himself along the floor with his arms, but the caldron wouldn’t drag over the uneven, rough flooring. But of course Vladimir being Vladimir, determined to get a moving again he grabbed the sledgehammer from the floor and firmly grasped it with both hands, placed the head of the hammer on the floor with the handle facing into the air, he inhaled and lifted him and his caldron up into the air and manager to swing the hammer around to propel himself forward.

He made his way to the vault opening and after a while he managed to ply it open. What he saw next made his jaw drop. He slowly realised what had happened whilst he was out. The remaining survivors had taken all the rubble, trash and other possessions left behind by their now dead owners and had created a large staircase into outer space. For what reason you might be asking, well Vlad knew exactly what, the Russian Space craft that he himself had helped create. He knew he had to get up that staircase to every survive this hell on earth any longer.

Vladimir managed to use the sledgehammer to propel himself quite efficiently up the side everything he came across, whether it was just a simple rock, to large shelving units, the survivors had really used everything they could do to get into orbit. Everything was stacked on top of everything, if you could think of it, these hungry and thirsty survivors almost certainly stacked them on top of each-other to gain even a few millimetres extra. Wildlife, beach huts, hot tubs, entire houses, ladders, BBQs, boats, oars, satellites, boxes, sofas, drawers, mattresses, art work, nothing went untouched, anvils, buckets, shopping trolleys.

There was nothing Vlad’s sledgehammer didn’t touch, he climbed and climbed until he was nearing the top, this is where he started realising what had really happened, which unfortunately was a bit too late.

One of the many things that Donald and Vladimir had talked about all those days/weeks/months/years ago (again we have no idea), Donald said how he was working on a bomb that was manufactured to kill, but not in the normal way, this weapon was designed to detonate and use psychological warfare against their enemies. The gasses once inhaled would instantly give person horrible thoughts, dark ones, along with some other life changing effects.

Unfortunately Vlad knew the truth, there was no Russian Space craft, this chemical weapon would drive its victims to suicide in one of the worst ways.

Vlad didn’t want to go, but he was no longer in control, he was already being pulled out into orbit by some magical force, he was being forced to climb the last stage of the stair case, an ex mobile tower. This tower would take him into orbit and of course take his life, he tried to take his time, step by step, but of course this force was merciless, fulling him further and further out into orbit.

Vladimir started to expand, it was one of the worst pains he had ever felt, the cast iron caldron started to crack under the intense pressure, his bones shattered whilst his ever expanding body crushed them against the iron caldron. His saliva started to boil, whilst his blood started to freeze and finally his lungs started to rupture. Then suddenly, but not soon enough.

Darkness.

Well you have now learned the dark truths of Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, I didn’t want to tell you this, but it needed to be known. Of course in the conclusion of any review, should you be purchasing this game, this may be considerably more money than any other game I have reviewed, but I would recommend it.

For a game built upon the very concept of an emotionless creature taking pride in killing for cash, Street Sniper is trying its best to do the opposite. Most games of similar genre follow an uninteresting, down right boring protagonist, with no name, little known backstory and shady career, most would think Street Sniper does the same, but most would be incorrect.

What does boring mean anyway, tiresome? Uninteresting? Repetitive maybe? No one ever says efficient. How could boring mean efficient you will most likely be asking. Imagine a hurdler and a free runner, the hurdler will just run and jump over the hurdles when they need to, quick precise jumps over the hurdles, but the free runner will run, slider under the hurdle, front flip, cat pass over the hurdle. The hurdler will likely win, but the audiences eyes will be on the frankly flamboyant parkour artist as its more interesting than the strictly boring hurdler. This is a perfect metaphor for the protagonist in this game.

There are many different types of contract killers out there, some people love close combat with knives, or other blades, others like to be stealthy and use the famous garrotte wire. Heck some even somehow get others to do their bidding like the famous Chester Wheeler Campbell a fairly dangerous contract killer during the 80s, some use guns up close and personal, maybe even a suppressed weapon for the slightly more silent ballistics kill. Then of course there are the killers that leave no trace, people that make it look like a suicide, or an act of god, perhaps a choking or a heart attack. Then likely the most boring of them all.

The marksman. Someone that sits on the building opposite and waits for the perfect kill shot, takes out the target and leaves. Imagine how the John Wick Franchise would be if someone just shot Mr Wick from five hundred metres away with a high powered rifle, I tell you what it would be like, terrible, it would be a short film and rather boring.

Unfortunately for Hollywood, this is the most efficient way of killing someone quickly and in the smallest amount of time possible, no fannying around bribing guards to put Ricin or Aconite into someone food or drink, no messing about with knives or guns close to the victim. No trace.

One letter. B. What does this mean to you, the common man. If you have never played this game, likely nothing. It could be a name, it could be an insect or animal. Or it could be a trained killer.

B short for Boring or Bodhi (no one is really sure) is the name of our protagonist in this game, although he is an emotionless killer with no empathy, sympathy or remorse, he is a legend in his field.

He has never failed a contract, never missed a shot and somehow is not only the cheapest contract killer, but is also the easiest to contact. Yet no one has ever heard his real voice, seen him or had any conversation with him. He will either seek out open contracts or you send him some basic details on your desired victim.

Bodhi is a codename, nobody wants to call him boring as, he doesn’t deserve that treatment, he is one of the most reputable killers in the business, so we call him Bodhi.

Bodhi has no family, no friends, no colleagues and no acquaintances, he works alone. Some say he was raised by wolves, others say he just spawned and people even say he doesn’t exist. But we all know that’s not true, Bodhi has successfully killed 1000s of people without being caught.

How does he complete such feats you may be asking, well I will tell you.

First we’ll start with appearance, Agent 47, is a bald, 5 ft 10 man with a barcode on the back of his head who often wears a two-piece suit, not very conspicuous if you ask me. Bodhi however is trained in blending in. He wears normal, casual civilian clothing, often looking like a tourist or a resident of whatever country the hit is taking place in. Whatever he is wearing, wherever he is, he will always carry a bag, a rucksack maybe with a hidden compartment, where he stores his weapon of choice

This takes me nicely on to the rifle he uses during every contract. The Remington Defense CSR (Concealable Sniper Rifle), a lightweight and compact 7.62mm bolt action takedown suppressed sniper carbine with a 14 inch barrel. It is small enough to collapse into a normal sized laptop case and powerful enough to take out a human being at up to 1500 metres, this is something that Bodhi takes advantage of.

Legend has it Bodhi only brings one bullet to his jobs, his rifle may be suppressed, but any gun shot noise is bound to give people a fright, one job that caught the attention of other contractors was the triple threat trio, they were 3 dangerous men, who ran a very large drug cartel together, an open contract came out to take out all three men for the low, low price of $50 million. The information put out about them was that they were at a friends wedding, putting family first. Other contractors that were there said they heard one rifle round being fired, somehow taking out all three of them in one shot, the bullet went cleanly through all of their heads killing all of them instantly. The police arrived instantly, eager to get some dirt on these 3 high class criminals, but they found nothing, except one little thing, the letter B engraved into the bullet lodged into the third man’s head.

The police and eventually the other contracted killers that were at this venue waiting to kill all three found that the place that B shot from would have been directly in the open, but no one saw anything out of the ordinary, he went unnoticed.

It was at this point, which was fairly early in his career (as far as we know) that others became aware of this living legend, someone so efficient, could even live. Somehow this guy is still one of the cheapest killers in the business and can often kill someone within 48 hours, wherever they are.

They say the only thing holding him back from being quicker is the lack of quicker travel options, think of that, a killer so efficient, that the only thing holding him back is the fact planes don’t fly fast enough, its completely crazy.

For all anyone knows, Bodhi could be a semi normal guy or girl, a family man perhaps, maybe a someone that can get away with travelling a lot. But I guess we will never know. This game unfortunately doesn’t give anything much more personal, we don’t ever see the character we play, nor even hear his voice. I am really hoping the second iteration of this gives us a little more information about this illusive creature. Well that’s unlike me, I never ramble on about back-stories.

What’s the gameplay like then. Yeah its not good.

Its spectacular, somehow its taken all the best parts of all the favourite adventure and action games, mixed them together into one game, it pretty easily takes elements from tomb raider and hitman not to the point that its just stealing assets from the other games, no, of course not, like most of the games I play, this game is very immersive, on a few of the contracts I took, after playing them to their fullest I started feeling like a psychopath, I mean seriously the brutality of these kills is insane, it can take tolls on your very being. Which is why there certainly should be an age warning on this game.

The graphics are simple, but still easily manage to suck you into the game and live it likes its real, it was never designed to be like the real world, no, few people actually have the need to take people out for cash in real life, although the extra dough would be nice.

So coming to a conclusion, is this game worth it. Yes of course it is, this game (in the UK) is 79p, seventy-nine pence, are you kidding me, buy this game now if you don’t own it already, if you like the hitman series or hell, even the tomb raider series put your decaff, almond milk, caramel syrup macchiato down and buy this damn game. Next time you go to Starbucks don’t pick up the extra marshmallows in your hot chocolate, buy this game.

I’ve heard people who served say that your time in the military is what you make of it. Putin vs ISIS, one of the deepest and most realistic military combat simulators. This game is allows you to make your own fun using its vast array of conscientiously recreated military hardware and brilliant, all-embracing battlefields. It requires immense effort and patience before you can glean any amount of what you’d traditionally think of as gameplay from it.

What it offers in return is some of the best military simulator gameplay the world has ever seen, some of the positions this game puts you in makes you feel more immersed than any VR game ever could. I don’t really understand why this is game was even released to the public, it seems like it would genuinely help train the military, with the advanced tactics and large control scheme you need to know and easily use to even just move around in this game.

Now I am in no way saying this makes the game bad, in fact, the complete opposite, this game is so good because it’s hard to play, when people are looking for a Military Simulator, they are usually not looking for something like Heroes and Generals for example, a game where no one works as a team, you cannot be revived and there is no real coordination. When someone says “I am a big military simulator fan”, they’re talking about your Squads, your Armas, etc and now we have this masterpiece of a game to add on top of this.

This game specifically takes a bit of getting into, you need to be eager and determined to play this game, a bit like being in the real military, now before any current or ex solider jumps onto me, annoyed, hear me out, this game is not something you want to miss out on. I have had many a conversation with the makers of this game (Nikita) and they are some great guys, they have you back. They have meticulously gone round many an army base to get insights and inspiration from many aspiring people, which is how they have made this game feel as real as it does.

They made sure to craft this game and the situations it puts you in around real life and real people. Something I love about this game that many other similar games don’t do is that its not just multiplayer. Sometimes I want to get back and talk to many different people just to get my military sim fix. So I am very lucky to have this game now, this games single-player is eerily good, I mean seriously I have played many different and I sometimes forget I am not talking to real people. I asked the devs about this and they answered with an answer I was not expecting, if you haven’t played this game, I need to explain this to you, most military simulator games are very much based on communication and this game nails this even in single-player.

When going into a single-player session you can pick 3 different positions, Squad Member, Squad Leader or an even superior roll, each one has a completely different play-style. Lets start at the top and make our way down, when you choose what they call “The General” its basically a strategy game, you are looking at a map and can see all your different objectives and where all the friendly soldiers are. Using your voice you can order any squad leader into any location you want, then you can watch over them with your eye in the sky. Drones play a big part in this part of the game, they allow you to monitor the battleground without getting your hands dirty in the field. When you order someone to do something like push forward into their impending doom they will, but not without questions, yes the fake people in the game respond with tailored answers, when I asked 3 squads to push to their deaths, they told me its a suicide mission, I replied, forcing them to do it, I actually felt bad.

Next role, the Squad Leader, you take orders from The General and if you don’t listen to them he gets annoyed, I would say being a SL is harder than the previous as you have more voices in your head, you have the general telling you what to do, other SLs telling you off for not responding, then you have 10 squad members who’s opinion of you change depending on the time you log in. So if you are playing the game late your Squad will be constantly annoyed and second guessing you.

Now onto my favourite role, the plain old Squad Member, this is the best role if you want to sit down in the evening and play a Military game without having to deal with real people, as a squad member you just need to listen to your SL and reply with Yes Sir, or if you’re that way inclined you can ask you SL questions and the game does a very good job replying, making it seem like you are actually talking to a real human being.

I am now going to talk about something that I many other games have never even tried, at least to this detail and with the very realistic graphics that this game has.

If you took the building destruction from Red Faction Guerilla, the Squad based Communication system from Squad and the amazing gun-play and customisation from Ground Branch you get this game, add onto that the massive maps with helicopters, jets, tanks and other armoured vehicles and you get a spectacular game. It’s not all good, at the moment they only have two teams, the Iraqi Militia and Russia, I have been told this was done so they could get everything else to the detailed degree they’re at. I can respect that, as I have said I have talked with the guys over at Nikita and they say that more teams will be added very soon.

In these reviews I always talk about the story behind the main characters, or the graphical detail, today I am talking about immersion. This game has successfully made me believe I was a part of an active battlefield and that’s just in the single-player mode, when you have maps as big as these with 100 v 100 battles its insane. You really need to think about whether you want to go The General or not as it comes with a great deal of responsibility. You have to decided if you want to control 10 different people and their squads. If you do go down that route its fun, very fun in fact. Both the multiplayer and single-player parts of this game have swallowed me whole, to the point I forgot I was even looking at a 27 inch monitor using my hands to control my character, I felt a real weight when something went wrong because of me, I felt more than I ever thought I would when playing any game let alone a military simulator.

If you haven’t purchased this game yet, why not, this game is only 79p, I am not sure if its a price glitch or if Nikita are just a charitable company that want their game to be played by all, rich and poor. Speaking of “Played by all” this game can be run on anything, I have tried this on business laptops with no dedicated GPU that although running on low settings could still hold 60 fps at 1080p, which is very impressive. I have been told that the devs are working on a version for Linux and Mac OSX, so then literally everyone can play this phenomenal game.

Before I leave I want to talk about a feature of this game that every communication based game should have. Have you ever been in a game of Squad for example and someone has no mic, say no more, I have also had such experiences and it can be extremely annoying.

This game doesn’t stand for this.

When you open this game it looks through your audio devices for a microphone, then asks you to say a sentence into the mic to not only make sure it works, but also make sure you can be understood, so this also negates the times you will be interacting with people with loud static filled audio. This can deter people from playing this game, but I guess it pushes out the people that aren’t determined enough.

So what are you waiting for buy this game, next time you want a coffee from Starbucks, spend you money on steam to not only support Nikita, but also play this extraordinary game.

Each time I start a new play-through of P&P I feel as if I am going home. There’s this strange comfort I get from it that I rarely have found in other games. I won’t go into it to much now, but the music changes with each scene so perfectly, it fits the mellowness of the colourful art style very well. If I had to sum up Plug and Play in one sentence, that sentence would be “Plug and Play is an emotional, precious tale of romance and strict violence that has the potential to outdo both Life is Strange and Undertale.”

There are 6 different levels that offer better focus for the players who just want to live and breathe P&P, these different levels encourage the player to get stuck into this game and experience all, as if they were in the game itself. P&P’s story is simple, yet satisfying. You play as a character named Oliver Plugging, he lived a tragic life, he was one of first human beings to be born without a head, this game tells the dark tale of his life. Oliver’s condition was strange to say the least, the doctors did many a test on him to see what impairments he had sustained during birth, Oliver couldn’t see, but he could hear just fine, he also had full use of all his appendages to the surprise of the many surgeons who worked with and on him. Somehow he survived birth with his brain halfway down his neck, to be honest they were very surprised he survived at all.

Oliver didn’t have it easy, he was bullied for being abnormal, he was bullied for being the minority.

But not for much longer.

But first the sob story.

Little Olli was abandoned, left out in the cold, outside an orphanage which had unfortunately shut the year prior. But all wasn’t lost quite yet, luckily during that night, Mr and Mrs Plugging were out on their weekly walk when they came across Oliver, they picked him up carefully and were startled when they realised he was without a head, but their confidence was restored when Oliver started flailing his arms left and right. Mr and Mrs Plugging swiftly took Oliver to their house, to introduce their sons and daughters to their new baby brother.

He may have been adopted into this loving family, but the other kids did not get along well for the first few months, he was made fun of a lot and because he has no way of easily stopping them verbally, it took him a while to get his self esteem up. But that was okay. Oliver was very lucky to have been picked up a family who had experience with children with certain disabilities, none as extreme as Oliver, but experience is experience. As I said before, Oliver strangely had perfect hearing, but of course, no sight.

He managed to learn sign language, by getting his new parents to manipulate his hands into the different shapes that made up words. It was difficult and everyone knew it would be, but they were all determined to get him communicating. His brothers and sisters were used to sign language as the oldest daughter was deaf. The only problem with Oliver learning this sign language was that it was one way, people had to talk to him in English with their voice, then he would reply in sign language. It was very hard in the beginning, but they soldiered through it and before long they got basic communication under their belt.

Then if life wasn’t already hard enough having to use what basically are two different languages just to say yes and no to people, he also had the problem he couldn’t easily get around without inevitably knocking into things. He was taught how to use a White Cane. It took him some time, but he got there. By his 6th year of school he had managed to learn the basics and so had his school.

Of course Oliver wasn’t the only one suffering, his parents did love him, but it wasn’t easy for them to raise him, it took a lot of time for him to move around on his own and even longer to start basic communication. There were many times where Mr and Mrs plugging were close to giving up, but they eventually pulled through. The parents went to many parental therapy sessions to help with their problems, of course they weren’t much help with the actual raising of the child, but they helped on the emotional side, in fact it took them a long time to find a therapist who took them seriously, I mean to be fair to them if someone called up your clinic saying their son had no head, would you continue the conversation on wards as if they said something normal.

Probably not.

Not only did they have one on ones they also attended many group sessions where many parents who had troubled children went to vent their problems away without accidentality lashing out onto their children. Getting back to Oliver, he also went to many different types of therapy, from physio to occupational, they helped but most of the work he managed to do himself. Mr and Mrs Plugging did try to take Oliver to school, but he and the school struggled, most of his classes had teachers who didn’t understand sign language, but luckily for Oliver there was one student who he was good friends with, we know that much as she learnt sign language just to help him at school, she was the only person who really got along with Olli on a different level, she just understood him.

This girl didn’t have any physical conditions, hell, she didn’t have any mental either. She just had a kind heart, pointed towards Oliver. This girl did everything with Oliver, she even took the same classes, so they could be together. But even with all this help, Oliver still had a rocky time in the few years of school he did. Eventually he was pulled out of school and taught at home as then they knew the teachers knew sign language.

Outside of school and hanging out with the girl of his dreams, Oliver also attended various groups, where he met a lot of people with similar conditions, of course none of them compared to his, but he made friends slowly but surely. He was mostly home schooled to make things easier for schools, but eventually he was invited to a club hosted in a neighbouring city.

This group of people just happened to all have the same condition as Oliver, they were all headless. Finally a group, small bit still a group of people that understood him, they met up every week and Oliver was always excited to talk to people who had the same experiences he had. Its in these group nights that our game-play awaits.

You may be asking, why the low quality graphics, I know what you are thinking, “Unmet, where are the realistic graphics, the ray-tracing, where are the textures that draw you into the game”. Just hold on there, this game’s perspective is from Oliver's, he’s blind, he’s never seen the light of day let alone colour, or what the other group members actually look like. I think this is quite beautiful, this shows that you don’t have to have amazing graphics to create a truly stellar game. The fact that this game is from the perspective of someone that has never seen other humans I think is beautiful in its self, the fact that we are getting a real insight into the mind of a blind teenager, is truly inspirational.

As this game is from what a blind boy sees the earth as sounds and more importantly music really matters more here. Luckily for us the music is seriously top notch. I know Mario von Rickenbach isn’t usually known for his incredible music, but this game takes the cake. Imagine the mellow tones in Bastion and Transistor’s chilled singer lyrics soaked in sorrow and you get a score that just draws you into this marvellous game.

So as I am getting closer and closer to the word limit, I need to start wrapping this thing up. I understand this review is different to my others, I fully understand that you are used to reviews of games that look a little more visually stunning, but its nice to take a breather from the Triple A titles.

Should you buy this game, yes, you should, don’t let its simple graphics or low price get you down, its worth every penny of that £1.99 you spend. Seriously this game is exceptional.

One of the first things that hit me when I started playing Puzzle Of Santa Girl VR (or PSGVR, which is what I will be calling it for the sake of ease) was the immense amount of detail that you can grasp whilst playing this marvellous game. Now let me blow you away, all this time you have been thinking that this is was merely filmed on a 360 camera and placed in the unity engine, but if you are thinking this, you have got it all wrong. This game was actually a pretty secretive test of a technology that has been around ever since the making of The Polar Express (2004), it may have been a very strange looking film, but it had some pretty interesting underlying components. Instead of just filming some reference shots of people walking and doing basic movements, then taking that to a large warehouse filled with animators, they instead did something a little different.

Motion Capture, The Polar Express was directed and filmed on a set, with real actors in Motion capture suits (or ‘Mo Cap’ for short) then of course they would have had a small group of animators to adjust what had been captured into something that could be applied to 3D models, but it would still be considerably less. This movie, was the one of the first, if not the first of its kind, but of course this wasn’t the best example of this fascinating new technology, some people have even gone so far as to call it ‘Uncanny Valley the Movie’, which is fair enough. This film was a great idea, it just could have been executed better, for example, Tom Hanks played, as in he acted and his motion was captured for 6 different characters, including the hero child, if you didn’t know this, hero child, is well, a child and Tom hanks is very much an adult, so there was only so much the said fixer animators could do. The main differences between PSGVR and The polar express were that PSGVR is not working with a $165 million budget, but I think they did it better, the motion of this character is none like any other I have ever seen, especially from a smaller developer.

Details. This game is filled with them, the animators have made the world look and feel massive and of course you can explore this world to your hearts content. I would love to talk about the menus, I never really talk about these things, mainly because they are just the old, uncomfortable bus that takes you to the main game, not this game, I think this is the best menu I have ever seen in a game and I have seen some pretty baller menus in my time, but this one mainly comes out on top because of how realistic it is, have you ever seen those cave paintings? What do I mean by that, you are probably asking, well, like the character modelling, this menu is another feat of engineering and animation, is seriously realistic, its as if one of the Studio Swag team actually took the time to carve the menu into a mixture of wood and rock and because this is a VR game, I can physically stand closer to it and admire the amazing textures, that only look like a blur from further away and this is not a flaw in the game.

Usually in VR games your virtual hands are either almost ghost-like hands or just a low poly copy of the controllers you are actually using outside the game. Your virtual appendages in this game are super well modelled realistic hands. You know the game is detailed when you spend time just staring at your hands, looking over every wrinkle, every vein, every bone. You can see your muscles moving your bones underneath your skin, its almost unreal, to the point that I could be standing in the middle of my office without the headset on just looking down at my real hands.

Like Studio Thug Life’s last game, this game is set in Korea, but its Christmas, so it almost puts more pressure on you to do the right thing and find the person that this entire game is based on, the person that we know is called Santa Girl. Here is some backstory if you are not up to date on the lore, Santa Girl is a character in the Korean Christmas movie “최고의 사랑”I am not expecting you to speak Korean so this basically translates to “The Greatest Love”, which was first played in 2011 and instantly hit. The general gist of this is that this Girl was the daughter of Santa Clause who grew up in the north pole surrounded by elves and toy factories, but eventually everyone grows up and leaves home, so she has to travel to the real world and get a real job. But of course she finds this hard, luckily she meets a young explorer whilst navigating out of the north pole and they slowly get to know each-other, of course as the watcher of this film, you know they will eventually get together, as they work really well together and just get on well. We eventually find out that this young explorer lives in Seoul (the capital city of Korea), finally what we were waiting for, the young man asks for Santa Girl’s hand in marriage after their long trek back together. But before they even get close to Korea the Santa Girl goes missing without a trace, except for the faint signs of struggle in the snow around their tent.

Your job is to track her down, with the help of this young explorer named Dokko Jin. Throughout this game you have to solve puzzles whilst learning more and more about this girl, you have to solve the crimes, to eventually trace their hideout and save the Santa Girl. This sounds like it would be super simple, but this game is not your average VR game that is just a glorified tech demo, no this game is a fully fledged VR title, the puzzles are plenty, challenging, but not to repetitive or boring. Imagine the murder mystery of La Noire, the VR immersive world of Half Life Alyx and the puzzles from The Witness, this is what PSGVR is.

After your first crime scene you can tell that the kidnapper is even more of a psychopath than you thought, he wants this to be a game, he leaves you puzzles, riddles and notes to where you will find the next crime scene, but you know he’s only human, he will make a mistake at some point, so you follow his game as you know its the only way you will be able to get that girl back. Some of the puzzles you could encounter include; There is a photo of the crime scene before any crime happened and you have to work out what is missing from the room and what was used as the murder weapon. Another puzzle, the kidnapper leaves you a room filled with birds and you have to catch the bird with the letter wrapped around its leg, each puzzle you solve you get one step closer to finding the Santa Girl. I don’t want to give to much about the story away, but you can tell already that you will eventually get the Santa Girl back for young Dokko Jin.

If this doesn’t sound good to you already then you probably asking questions, a question I can hear people asking is “Is it re-playable?” Yes, 100% yes, each level is randomised, so you can replay this game many time, as I have and get a different experience each time, the actual game is probably around 25-30 hours if you take your time, but on a second play-through you can care less about story and start taking the environment and look for some of the smaller details.

Should you buy this game? Well do you want hours of immersive puzzle gameplay, do you want to game where you could spend hours staring at the menus and your in game hands. Then this game is perfect for you, But what about PC specs? Well I am a good game reviewer, I have access to a fairly underpowered gaming laptop and a full on gaming PC, this game works very well on both, even without the changing of settings for the low powered machine. Basically my main answer to this question is do you have £11.39. Yes. Well what are you waiting for, pick this game up, Half Life Alyx is £46 and is half the game that PSGVR is. Next time you think about going to five guys, forget about the bacon cheeseburger, large fries and milkshake, no human being needs that much food, just get a regular fries and pick up this game with the money you would have spent.

Welcome Neo Nazis and hentai lovers, you have joined me in yet another review of a spectacular game, I have taken an in-depth look at this action, indie, gory sexual supreme game. Today I will be getting gritty with the campaign and the more arcade’y side of this wonderful game.

Hentai Nazi HITLER is Back is the love-child of two amazing developers AmagSwag and Love Anime, after almost a year of this game coming out I can say that teaming these two developers up was one of the greatest ideas. There is no way this review will give this game justice, somehow its only £1.69, I have no idea how they manage to earn anything back at this price, but don’t question, just purchase it, its beautiful, story rich and a third person shooter, what else could you possibly want. This game is based in a world where the Germans won the Great war and the few remaining pure blooded families (Not from German Origins) have to fight soldiers who continue to hunt them down. I am going to stop raving about it and get down to the proper stuff.

Killing Germans if great, hentai is fun and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are Hitler and Stalin bloodthirsty. This is what you learn when playing through this magnificent game. This small series cheered for annoying Greta and objectifying women has taken an unexpected turn, its taken more of a dark turn, I mean it still has you sprawling through amazing hell-scapes, Grass, Desert and Rock, but this time you will be searching for posters of the Devil Child (The climate loving girl who shall not be named), solving puzzles. But this time we have the addition of Hitler and Stalin bosses, I am in no way throwing shame to the previous game, but only having one big boss to fight was a little disappointing, but it was still an amazing game and definitely made up in other areas. But this review is not about number one, we are talking about the second, you know what they say, “first is worst, second is the best”, not that I agree with the first part of that, but it still holds some truth.

Anyway back to Hentai Nazi HITLER is Back.

HNHIB gives us characters and a world with a level of depth that was previously unseen in any other game made by both AmagSwag and Love Anime and it elevates is story from a more shoot enemies vibe to an Oscar calibre drama. Every facet of AmagSwag’s pièce de résistance is worthy of a standing ovation, out of every game I have played, yes including Ukrainian ball in search of gas ( Review ), this has to be one of the best.

You will be playing this magnum opus of games as a very pretty young women, first name Anime, second name Girl, a Japanese wet dream trying to escape the grasp of this dystopian future and the horrors of her past. Anime Girl, the protagonist of this rich story, has a dark story (Which doesn’t get addressed in the first game, yet another reason why this game is the better one), starting from nothing like every birth, she spent most of her childhood helping her parents massacre their way through hundreds of German Soldiers. But, one day she left the family’s hideout to go scavenging for some basic supplies and when she came back, she found her Mother and Father hanging from their ankles with their throats slit. Anime Girl was so shocked, sad and disgusted she ran and never turned back for many years.

Until one day way she stopped running and decided to avenge her parents by hunting down the two people that gave the orders. Hitler and Stalin. The leaders of this horrible time. But of course its not that easy, Anime Girl has to go slow and start small. (This is where the player comes in) She has to go around taking down propaganda posters and killing Russian and German Soldiers. Slowly you start to learn more about the people higher up and start planning your master plan, but if this wasn’t enough you will also be searching for Easter eggs, secrets and solving puzzles all the way to finally taking down the people who ordered for you parents to be hung in the most meaningful way possible.

If this sounds to intense for you, do not worry, this game (like the previous) still has the over-the-top gore and the risqué women in swimsuits. But there is a level of sophistication here that raises this game above all the other classics. As Anime Girl rises on the countries kill list in the death throes of this alternate universe, she begins to become more self aware. This of course means that our protagonist starts as a very close minded young lady, this doesn’t inhibit the gameplay at all thankfully, instead it enhances the emotional gravity of this dazzling story-line.

So much credit needs to go to the artists at AmagSwag and Love Anime, I have no idea how many people are in this department, but you can take one look at this game and know instantly that this department in particular is talented. They have somehow create one of the most realistic landscape I have ever seen, somehow topping Ukrainian ball in search of gas, which I never thought would be feasible. Many open-world games have locations that feel as if they only existed from the moment you first turned on your PC, but not HNHIB, the designers here have made this game world look not only new, but also lived in, don’t ask me how, because I have no idea.

Although this game only has three main areas, more than enough time has been taken to make these areas the best districts the best places you have ever stepped into. In most games the all the flora and fauna all have the same textures, in this game we can somehow walk through a forest filled with completely different looking pieces of art. Although this is set in some unfortunate alternate universe, this place is by hook or crook relatable, there are some neighbourhoods that are clearly richer than others, these regions have newly paved walkways and the NPCs are wearing sensible and smart clothing, while other spots are more run down with the NPCs wearing worse clothing. There was no reason to do this other to show off their stupid budget and gargantuan development and design teams.

Now we all know I could go on about this game forever, but unfortunately this review is already over a thousand words and most people couldn’t get past the first paragraph after seeing this large write-up.

I have loved every second of this ravishing game, but before we end something's have to be addressed.

Firstly the price, £1.69. Why? How? I have no idea. This price is stupid, the dedication and enthusiasm they have put into this game is well worth over 10 times this price, but why am I even talking about this, for under £2 ($3 or so) you can get this game which has kept me happy for over 700 hours, I don’t even feel I have experienced enough of this game, so I feel I will be playing more of this game. I don’t understand how I keep on coming across these such remarkable games.

After all of this only now am I even telling you if you can run it, the answer is probably yes, unless you never upgraded your commodore 64 you can probably run this, as long as you can open up steam and have 1GB of storage available this fascinating, alluring game can be run and enjoyed by all. This game seems to have been optimised by gods, take it from me, next time you go to Starbucks to buy a coffee and cake, skip the cake and buy this game. It is well worth it, you will not be disappointed.
