So it looked like a really cool thing. Spooky spider train, then you get to fight it off with your own train and stuff. Unfortunately, there is zero suspense or tension building. They show you a picture of the train in the first picture, and then about 5 minutes after the player takes control, the spooky spider train attacks.

Then it's just a pile of super boring fetch quests. Usually when you encounter Charles, it's when you're on foot and there's nothing you can do about it, but it doesn't matter because there is only the most minimal of consequences for dying. I fully upgraded my train within 2 hours and only ever got to fight Charles on the train 3 times (including the tutorial). The atmosphere of the spooky island is really good at first, but then you realize that there's nothing whatsoever to threaten you except Charles (except for one point but it's also not a threat).

This feels like a 48 hour game jam project that got out of hand, and is only popular because of the meme. I'd give it a pass.

The game is gorgeous. The setting is really cool and the story was really starting to get interesting. Then it ended without answering questions and on a cliffhanger. I somewhat enjoyed the half of a game that I I got to play.

Also the combat is some of the most generic and milquetoast FPS combat ever.

The game feels like it's in early access, and my feeling is supported by the significant reworks and changes that are happening in the patches.

Wait to buy this until there's a sequel with a set release date, or they update this game with the missing half.

Early Access Review
TLDR: YES! It's so good and if you like arcade naval combat at all, give it a shot, you won't regret it! Warship Gunner fans, just buy now!

So this game is very early access, but there's a *huge* amount of potential. It's an arcade naval combat game with custom ship building aspects. If you thought From The Depths was *way* too in depth, this might be for you.

The game is primarily based around a single-player campaign, and currently the first area is mostly complete, so there is something of a dearth of content, but more is coming soon and the dev is super friendly on his discord. The writing is charming and the art is pleasant.

It's basically a spiritual successor to the PS2 Warship Gunner series, and if you were a fan of those games then you know how great of a thing that is, as there's been nothing like Warship Gunner 2 since Warship Gunner 2!

I have been vibrating with excitement since I knew this game existed, so if it looks at all up your alley, just give it a try!

If you wanted more Ace Combat, you've got more Ace Combat. Complete with not being set in the real world, thank God.

Ion Fury is an incredibly good game. I love it. If you at all liked Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, or Shadow Warrior, you owe it to yourself to play Ion Fury/Maiden.

My friend Mezzo likes the game too.

The game is bland and boring to start with. I had just played Fallout: New Vegas prior to starting this heap, and was unable to stomach any more after killing a Deathclaw with power armor in the first 20 minutes. The utter lack of pacing was more than a little frustrating. Also the lack of unique weapons killed one of my favorite aspects of collecting from Fallout 3 and NV. Apparently it's just a procedural modification system for guns, anyways, so most uniqueness is gone.

PAID MODS

So in addition I had installed this game on my storage drive just to find out I was 4GB short of storage from what I should be. The Creation Club Paid Mod system downloads all the mods to your disk whether you bought them or not. This is unacceptable, as there's only a dozen or so mods on it and you're already sucking down 4GB of extra disk space. What happens when there's 100 mods, or 1000? We're just supposed to put up with the game downloading 40GB or 400GB of extra content on our machines without permission? It's absurdly incompetent.

I'm not even going to get into the ethical and moral disaster that is paid mods in the first place. I'm only even discussing how bad it is on a technical level.

Hey Bethesda give the IP back to Obsidian so we can get a good game out of this trash heap.

The singleplayer game is great on its own. The multiplayer is mediocre to terrible on its own. The multiplayer is basically a grindfest in order to have anything cool. The singleplayer mod situation is bad. Take2 is now threatening mod developers who develop singleplayer mods over concerns for the multiplayer experience.
