This is not just a game, it's a living, breathing world - a platform, upon which just about anything can be built. To me, the real beauty of this game isn't the memorable storyline, one of the longest-running online modes of any game, or even the technical marvel of its time that it is - it's the way this is basically a miniature LA simulator, waiting to be turned into anything your imagination desires via modding. I've spent maybe 100 hours tops in single player and online combined - the rest has come from just community-created mods like LSPD First Response that flip the game completely on its head. This is all made possible by for one the incredible modding community this game has, which exists in spite of the amount of effort required to keep those mods going, and for another the sheer attention to detail in the world which makes it feel immersive beyond belief. With those ingredients, the lustre of this game just does not fade with time.

All of this *could* be yours, but only provided you have the sheer persistence and willpower required to pull it off. You must, like me, really be desiring for a specific itch no other game can scratch if you plan on modding this game. Now if only Rockstar figured out a way to make modding less untenable than it is now, where everything breaks about once a quarter...
