A humble but exciting blend of its inspirations, Mad Max meets Oregon Trail, or Fallout's love child with Kenshi and a business Tycoon game. The combination of anime-esque pixel graphics and post-apocalyptic desolation work surprisingly well, and it offers an engaging veneer to a surprising amount of mechanical complexity, though I rarely felt overwhelmed. I was still learning new systems and methods to advance even as the final story chapters loomed, and was already thinking how I'd play my next build with my new depth of experience combined with a new crew or rig. Few games capture the feeling of just you and a motley gang of misfits exploring a post-apocalyptic sandbox, full of danger and opportunity, and it felt surprisingly cozy and captivating. For a humble $8, I got my money's worth many times over, and Dustland Delivery carves out its own niche in the realm of post-apocalyptic indies.
