there is no way to disable the assist mode, it's always on and you *will* be told the answer. you can't mark a single square without the game shoving you aside to tell you if its wrong which completely destroys the point of a picross game. you're better off playing a color by the number game compared to this. if you want a good picross game just play khimera puzzle island instead. i'm devastated bc i thought this would be another solid picross w miku :(

the dark souls of 3D collectathons (no genuinely)

movement is fluid, responsive, and incredibly versatile but takes time to get used to. do not expect to zoom through levels right off the bat. this game is *difficult* and will demand mastery of your move-set. it immediately throws you in the deep-end after the tutorial with zero explanations or prompts beyond the initial signposts, figure it out yourself basically. experiment and put things together a la witness.

the world is grand and ethereal with an ambiance i've seen matched only by pseudoregalia. the sun sets and moon rises only for the sun to rise again within minutes, time flies by as if in a dream. you're alone in a vast desert searching for fish and travel vast distances via sandworm. the desert itself is decorated with ruins and outposts, each with a focus on a specific mechanic. one place may have you flying across valleys and through hoops while another launches you up slopes and across walls while maintaining your momentum. each place you visit asks you to familiarize yourself with and master part of your move-set. though some may appear to be locked up with no way of entry, they're all accessible from the start and require you to find a way in. checkpoints are far and few between with most being at the very start of a level and somewhere in the middle. in their place are shortcuts in the form of fishing rods (this is still a fishing game) peppered throughout a level that save tons of time backtracking.

completing this is no small feat and requires a lot of patience and determination but each fish you find really feels like you've earned it after having clawed through the gauntlets required to reach them. collect everything you find, your ultimate goal is to earn your scales by collecting all 26 fish and 696 tokens. someone just finished documenting the collection of every single collectible and i highly recommend looking at their guide once you think you've finished a level.

i highly recommend this if you want a rewarding collectathon with fluid movement and precise platforming but maybe skip it if you're looking for a more laidback casual fishing adventure, it is *not* that lol. it's very niche

ps. leave the lighthouse and especially the palace for last, those are the longest and most demanding areas in the game

really disappointing, there are very few interactions with the main gal and it's mainly fetch quests while avoiding being sent back to the main menu. you'd think a game advertising itself with a hot goat mom would have you interact with them for more than the initial 30 minutes but it has shockingly little dialogue. don't pick it up if you actually wanted to interact with her, you'll get one convo every 15 minutes and in the meantime she'll just sit on your bed and say literally nothing about the current situation or yourself. seems like you get closer to her through off-screen time loop shenanigans than actually talking with them and saying the right things
