Feels like a modern take on the Game Center CX games that were on Nintendo DS, only with more games. If you like faux-retro indie games, or any of the games made by UFO 50"s creators I can"t recommend this enough.

The 7-8 hours of playtime I have at time of this review were all on a Steam Deck, and so far other than one game randomly crashing it plays perfectly. In that time I"ve played maybe 80% of the games and only beaten one of them, there is plenty of gameplay for your money here.

If you sort the games chronologically, the first game on the list is an intentional throwback to old clunky platformer maze games that were popular in the 80s (Montezuma"s Revenge is my point of reference) and if you don"t have nostalgia for that type of game you should definitely check out a few games later in the list, they get more complex as they go along.

I still have to try out a handful of these games, but I"ve already found a decent number I"m going to sink some serious time into. There"s also plenty of meta challenges and secrets that I"ve only gotten a peek at.

edit: I"m now 23 hours in, I"ve beaten 3 games (with the cherry challenge not completed on any) and the one serious bug I found was patched. I"ve already hit a dollar-per-hour with this collection and nowhere near done with it.

These are some of my favorite Metroidvania games, and I"ll recommend this collection on that alone. Runs perfectly fine on Steam Deck. The seals in Dawn of Sorrow can be done with button presses, which is a vast improvement.

The Haunted Castle remake isn"t good enough that I"d recommend it on that alone, but it"s a version of that part of Castlevania history that isn"t just a quarter muncher.

For the more serious gamers, I"ll say that this isn"t a significant improvement over just running the games on an emulator, with the downside being a lack of romhack support.

Really hoping they bring over the Symphony of the Night/Rondo of Blood collection, even if it"s the same version that"s on PS4.

Good idle game. You"re always getting new ways to progress, and automating the earlier ones. After unlocking some upgrades, you get up to four days of offline progression, which affects every system in the game, so you only need to boot it up to fiddle with systems or attempt more progress. USI also doesn"t get too needy with its prestige system, I only need to prestige every few days unless I"m doing challenges. There are certainly guides for minmaxing stuff but I haven"t really needed them, the progression systems never get too archaic and its not too painful to grind enough to trivialize challenges if you can"t quite figure out a problem.

Bottom line for idle game players: 80 hours in and I don"t feel like I"ve hit a brick wall, real offline progression, and the money store is completely optional.

It"s the Binding of Isaac of card games, in that it"s superficially unbalanced and unfair but better than basically every similar game by a wide margin.

Miro Funger knew what everyone wanted in a sequel, and that"s more Pocketcat.

I"ve played full price for AAA games with less gameplay than this Early Access roguelike by a small studio.

The original web version of Cookie Clicker is a classic of the genre, this port is atrocious. Runs like complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the Steam Deck, for good measure. It was 5 bucks and I"m going to get a refund.
