I've played many versions of this game over the years and can't believe I'm finally playing the full version! I'm only about 4-5 hours in, and yet I'm totally invested. The writing is great and digestible, the pixel art is astounding, and the gameplay is really a masterclass in understanding that "anything is possible". As other reviews will point out, this game was made in RPG Maker 2003 and takes the engine to new heights thanks to some intricate programming and some patchwork that might give your antivirus software a scare.

The game does still have the occasional bug and a little bit of clunkiness that can be attributed to the engine, but 5 hours in and I haven't been unable to progress or come across anything game-breaking, so I think we're doing well so far! I'm sure those details will be ironed out more as the developers continue to fine-tune. This is an impressive game and I look forward to the inevitable popularity this game receives and rightfully deserves.

Also make sure you find the gravestone southeast of Aiden's castle for a cool easter egg!

I've been streaming the game lately and I'm really liking it - so far! It's a really great homage to one of the best games ever made, and it also stands on its own as a challenging and grind-friendly RPG. The characters are cute and entertaining, and I can always appreciate a silent protagonist. The game favors its gameplay and replicates its influence well in many places, but a few of the fallbacks of this combat style do show their face as well. Sometimes, combat is a bit difficult and there is a learning curve to a lot of the timed hits, but nothing seems to be unfair so far. The game has a really apparent "cozy" vibe to it, which its influence did as well, and it makes it easy to sink into.

My biggest gripes with the game have to be the lack of sound effects in some cases and the overuse in others. Specifically, I wish there were more sounds in things like interactions with NPCs, and that there was a little more care with the spatial audio. Hearing the torches is a bit crunchy and it'd be nice if it'd fade in or out a little more.

Also, the game could benefit from having some sort of map system that helps you recall locations, because a dungeon that probably took me 2ish hours could've been half as long if I could recall where I was going or had gone. I'm nervous that the rest of this game will require a lot more needless backtracking and hopefully that's not the case.

I loved this game! It doesn't overstay its welcome, and offers a very nicely packaged challenge. Worth the time I spent on it! Can't wait to find the secrets next time we play.

One of the best games I've ever played. If you love quirky RPG's filled with a ton of heart, you'll fall for this game like I did.

I really adore this game - I've been a huge fan of everything I saw in the game, and then Kaycee's Mod turned my interest in the gameplay into an obsession. I'm not a card game player, and not a rogue-like player and I can't put this thing down.

An amazing old-school RPG that feels like the games you know and love but provides a story that features twists and turns unique to the experience. I have never played any of the early Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy NES games, but from what I know about them this is an excellent addendum to those experiences and the work shows. As a fan of RPG Maker's early days, I love to see games like this succeed and after finally completing the game, I can't recommend it enough.

Having grown up with games like Mario & Yoshi, Tetris Attack and Puyo Puyo off-shoots like Kirby's Avalanche, I got really excited when I found out Vagabond Dog was working on a puzzle game that fits nicely in that box. Burger Patrol is a unique experience with tons of opportunity for replayability. Never has been building burgers out of falling meats, veggies and cheeses been so fun!

I don't know what it is about Vagabond Dog's games but you're always going to get a unique experience. This game is no different - a narrative game about the stock market. Just in time for the big stocks meme to hit, this game encompasses a lot of the pop culture phenomena but laced in an enjoyable story too. There were genuine moments that I didn't expect and a couple that had me burst out laughing. Whether or not you know stocks (me being the latter), I think it's worth it to give this one a shot!

I was excited when this game was shown off as a demo for a Vagabond Dog game jam, and even more so when I heard the game was being developed into a full experience. The things that Codapill and his team of collaborators incorporated into this short narrative really provide the experience with a ton of innovation you don't often see in games made in the RPG Maker engine. When you're making a tough decision, you can (quite literally) feel the tension. The suspense and anxiety of each decision encourages additional playthroughs to see how the outcome changes. If you're looking for a mystery narrative game to kill a half hour, I wholeheartedly recommend this one!
