A solid little idle/management game that’s surprisingly well-optimized and visually appealing. The core loop is straightforward and there’s definitely fun to be had, but the experience is held back by a fair number of bugs. You might run into occasional freezing, issues with fertilizer automation not working properly, and sprinklers not always behaving as expected. None of these flaws completely break the game, but they can get frustrating over time.

In terms of progression, it feels pretty linear. Once you find one of the few effective build paths through the tech tree, you’ll likely stick with it. That’s not unusual in the idle genre, but it does mean things can feel a bit too “on rails.” Despite these shortcomings, for just around $5, it’s a decent pick if you’re looking for a few days of casual enjoyment before moving on.

After playing approximately 50 hours, I can say this game is truly awful. Initially drawn to its unique premise, my anticipation quickly turned to frustration due to many, many bad decisions by the devs.

I started this review by writing a list of about 30 or 40 things in this game that are just annoying. But really, it can be summed up by:

- Constant, repetitive chores.
- Unrewarding progress.
- Waiting, waiting, and more waiting.
- Boring story
- Bugs

Tons of in-game waiting wasting real-world time. Even without these problems, the core gameplay offers little more than a mediocre RPG experience. My advice would be to with literally any other game.

The balance is dumb.

A no-brainer for fans of RTS games. Only downside is that in order to play Mortal Empires you have to purchase the first game for the full $60. Modding community is good as well. Check out Grimhammer after a few campaigns.

Reminds me of when I first discovered the Civilization franchize. Completely addicted; I feel like I dont even need any other game in my library. Infinite replay value and cannot wait for the expansion.

A lot of smurfs and hackers in this game valve doesn"t seem to do anything about.

You"ll get banned from matchmaking after you can"t connect to their crappy servers, I finally quit after I got a 1 week cooldown because I couldn"t connect.

Fun game but too many bugs and horrible support.

Crash a couple of hours into the game, started it up to see no saved. Probably never going to want to do it all over. Fix your bugs, devs.

Ruined my life. 10/10
