One of the best singleplayer Action RPGs out there.

The story doesn't get good until the end where -revelayatons- happen one after the other as well as the DLC, but the gameplay is really solid and it plays like a mini MMO except it's singleplayer.
It's really fun to watch your character grow from struggling to fight larger enemies to downing them in a few hits later on.

The pawn system is really in-depth for its time and while it has some issues I like how they can slowly become smarter the more you teach them things. Unfortunately the game has its flaws, like the second half of the game feeling rushed, and the lack of variety of large monsters to fight until post-game and the DLC island.

I can't wait for the sequel, hope it'll be good too.

I love PSO2, I love NGS and I will still probably play it until the end of its service, but I can't excuse how slow development of new content has been and how out of touch it seems the devs are to the fanbase's needs. I still play daily and still enjoy the dress-up portion of it, but there's only so much one of the best character creators can do if there's not many interesting things to do with your characters.

It had a lot of potential, the aforementioned character creation, Creative Spaces are incredibly cool and people have made really cool stuff with it, and the battle system was interesting and fun on certain points (for a while), and they haven't missed at all with the big boss raid urgent quests (Dark Falz and Dark Falz Aegis) and the multitudes of banger music tracks,

However, it's also marred by the player economy being broken due to scalpers and not enough people being on to roll to add more products to the player market resulting in prices skyrocketing, requiring you to grind a lot to get fashion parts, an empty open world that's not utilized to its fullest, and there's only 4 photon arts per weapon type and two techniques per element despite this being the second year already. Even if one finds it fun at first, doing the same thing for 2 years would feel bland eventually.

So I can't really recommend this game to anyone until the state of the game improves. Every time I tried to recommend a friend to try the game, they quit in like a week or less. I'm essentially the only one in my group that plays it daily and it feels very very lonely. While it's true that PSO2 original also took years to become "good", and I'm hoping NGS could also eventually fix itself given enough time, I'm also not very optimistic given the dwindling playerbase and the director and their comments regarding the game. I really really wished someone else was at the helm and the game was given much much much more time in the oven before it was released.

TLDR: So much good potential wasted by lots of horrible management decisions.

It's a 9/10 game

by that I mean that's the amount of players queueing into a game max

also this game killed my HDD with all my work on it and i will never live it down

edit: I also got disconnected twice in a row despite using a wired connection that's quite stable so I'm banned for 30 hours. really great!

I had a bit of fun with it but afterwards it hurts my eyes anyway. The weird desync issue also annoyed me. Devs being political doesn't help either.

A must-play if you have a VR headset. Especially if you're a Half-Life fan.
