NieR:Automata is a beautiful addition to the Drakengard/NieR franchise that is able to stand on its own legs narratively without those that came before it. With tight Platinum Games combat similar to Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising: REVENGEANCE, Yoko Taro's brilliant direction, a beautiful soundtrack that changes dynamically, a fantastic story that explores the ideas of what it means to be alive and 2B's magnificent ass, NieR:Automata offers a completely unique experience and serves as an important example of a piece of art that can only exist as a video game.

Unfortunately not every part of this game deserves praise. This is a terrible port and we have not received a single bug fix since the game's original launch last year. If you have a PS4, do yourself a favour and get that version instead. In order to play the game on PC, you need a mod called FAR to fix numerous problems and even after that I had to restart my playthrough 20 hours in because my save file had corrupted.

It is also somewhat confusing to certain players what the game means by "ending." Many people who have played Yoko Taro games in the past will know that when they see "Ending A" that means they are only about a fifth done with the story however the note from Square Enix that tells the player the game isn't over yet went unheaded by many reviewers when the game was first released netting the game negative reviews on account of it finishing without wrapping up the stories loose ends. To any new players, please remember that the story isn't over until you've reached the [E]nd.

tl;dr- This game is a masterpiece. Get it for PS4 if that is possible. If you still want to buy it for PC, look up "Nier:Automata FAR mod." Glory to Mankind.
