I understand that Miyazaki was very busy with Bloodborne at the time, but man... this piece of garbage doesn't even worth the name "Dark Souls" on it.

Do you want to know the only good thing this game has?

Majula.

Ah... Elite: Dangerous my beloved... What can i say about you? After stacked over 1,000 hours into, i think it's time to say something.

I can say it’s one of the most immersive and, at times, frustrating gaming experiences I’ve had. For every space enthusiast, this is a must buy.

The Galaxy at Your Fingertips:
Elite Dangerous offers a massive, 1:1 scale galaxy that feels alive and dynamic. With over 400 billion star systems, planets, moons, and stations to explore, the sense of scale is awe-inspiring. No two play sessions feel the same when you're charting unknown systems, landing on planets, or simply marveling at distant stars. Exploration is perhaps the game’s strongest feature, and with updates like Odyssey allowing on-foot exploration, the immersion level is elevated even further. It's the kind of game that shows you how you are insignificant compared to the magnitude of all things, everything in real size. Kinda crazy to think about this.

Play Your Way:
The freedom to shape your own path is where the game shines. Whether you're a trader, bounty hunter, explorer, pirate, or miner, there's a career for you. The game offers a variety of ships, each with their own upgrade paths and customization options. There’s nothing quite like building a ship to suit your unique playstyle—whether it’s a nimble fighter for bounty hunting or a cargo-hauling giant for trading routes.

The game is a sandbox at heart, and Elite is at its best when you're self-driven, setting your own goals. Want to explore the far reaches of the galaxy? You can. Want to become a feared pirate or a Federal Navy Officer? You can do that too.

Combat & Flight Mechanics:
The flight mechanics are phenomenal and genuinely make you feel like you're piloting a spacecraft. Combat is deeply satisfying, especially in VR, with dogfights that can be intense and rewarding. Mastering ship movement and tactical combat can take time, but once you do, it’s exhilarating. The variety of weapons, modules, and ship builds keep combat fresh.

However, combat can also be punishing, particularly for newer players. The difficulty curve is steep, and there are times where you might feel like you're getting overwhelmed by stronger NPCs or players in open play.

The Grind is Real:
For all the game’s positives, Elite Dangerous suffers from a deep and pervasive grind. Progression, whether it’s acquiring new ships, upgrading modules, or ranking up in factions, is incredibly slow. This grind becomes more apparent the deeper you get into the game. Many activities, while initially engaging, start to feel repetitive after a while. For instance, mining and trading can turn into monotonous tasks if done for too long without variation.

Additionally, while there are in-game factions and storylines, they often feel distant, and the game sometimes lacks the sense of purpose or progression found in more narrative-driven titles. If you’re a player who needs constant objectives or a strong story, Elite can feel hollow at times.

Multiplayer Experience:
The multiplayer aspect is interesting but somewhat underutilized. Open Play can be thrilling, where player interactions range from cooperative to aggressive, but this also means you risk running into griefers or hostile players. The game offers Private Groups and Solo Mode, which gives you the flexibility to choose your level of interaction with others.

For those seeking multiplayer engagement, features like Wing missions and community goals can add some cooperative depth, though larger-scale player collaboration feels limited compared to other MMOs.

Odyssey Expansion:
With the release of the Odyssey expansion, we finally got on-foot gameplay, allowing players to disembark their ships and explore planetary surfaces. While this added a new dimension to gameplay, the expansion launched with several technical issues and performance problems. That said, Odyssey does expand the game’s depth in ways that can’t be ignored, allowing for first-person combat and more diverse missions, but it’s not without its flaws.

The Beauty of Space:
One area where Elite Dangerous consistently excels is its visuals and audio design. Space never looked so good! From the vast nebulas to the rings of gas giants, everything feels meticulously crafted. Couple that with an amazing soundscape—your ship’s engines roaring to life, the hum of distant stars—and the game can be an audio-visual treat. Even after 1,000 hours, I still find myself stopping to admire the view.

Final Thoughts:
Elite Dangerous is a game about freedom, exploration, and the beauty of space. It’s not for everyone, and many will find its grind-heavy nature and slow pacing a deterrent. However, if you’re someone who can create their own narrative, enjoys spaceflight simulation, and loves the idea of charting unknown territories in the far reaches of the galaxy, this game can be an incredibly rewarding experience.

Pros:

Stunning galaxy with a massive amount of systems to explore.
Deep, satisfying flight mechanics.
Flexible career paths and playstyles.
Beautiful visuals and audio design.
Thrilling combat, especially in VR.

Cons:

Heavy grind for progression. Seriously, you'll grind a LOT in this game. Final warning.
Steep learning curve for new players.
Odyssey expansion has performance issues.
Lack of a strong narrative direction.
Final Rating: 8,5/10

This game lacks some coop, pvp or a dlc to increase its longevity, but it doesn't make the game bad, far from it. It's one of the best games that FromSoftware ever made, and it is another masterpiece from Hidetaka Miyazaki.

If you like challenging and hard, very hard games, this jewl is for you!

And remember: hesitation is defeat.
