Fantastic!
I went in blind, not expecting much from yet another video game adaption of a beloved franchise, and I have been blown away.

This feels like you're playing an OG Indiana Jones film. None of that nonsense from the last two movies, this feels straight out of the originals. It's set roughly a year after the events in The Last Crusade, and the old 80's era Indy is back baby. The action, the puzzles, the humour, the story, it's all classic Indiana Jones.

Troy Baker does a phenomenal job of voicing Indiana Jones, if you were worried it isn't Harrison Ford, DON'T BE, Troy absolutely nails it.

Graphically it's gorgeous, wonderful lighting and some stunning set pieces. The exploration is great, and every side quest feels important, often tying in to the main quest in some way.

Action is fun, this is a stealth/brawler first and foremost, if you're not sneaking around or using disguises, you're getting into fistfights or bashing angry nazis around the head with random stuff you find around the place. There is gunplay, and it's fine. It works as it should, but the game is much more focused on the punching. And the punching is great - enemies stagger and react to hits realistically, if you look down at their legs and attack you'll sometimes deliver a swift kick to the shins, which is never not hilarious as they hop about clutching their leg.

I will say that the AI isn't the brightest, and don't seem worried enough when they find a knocked out or dead buddy. They're also deaf as posts, as they will fail to detect you beating the everloving ♥♥♥♥ out of a couple of their buddies on the other side of a canvas tent flap, or around the corner less than 10 metres away. I blew up a fuel tank and the closest guard, around 20-30 metres away reacted like he'd heard a friend deliver a particularly wet fart, approaching cautiously and appearing somewhat unwilling to deal with the situation. Nobody else cared.

The maps are huge, with lots of freeform exploring and unlocking new areas and opening routes previously unavailable to facilitate faster backtracking later - which you will be doing if you're chasing all the collectables. They're worth getting, as their collection gives you points to spend on upgrading skills. Going through mission objectives at their specified locations however are quite linear and usually involve several puzzles to figure out and work through.

All in all, it's a lot of fun, and actually does the Indiana Jones franchise justice. Give it a crack.
