Really toeing the line between "Arty nonsense" and "Oh my god I"m so glad this game exists, everyone should play it".

Fun, stylish auto-runner with enough gameplay quirks to keep you interested for the few hours you"ll stay... but we all know we"re staying for the insanely great music.

The Riddles system for achievements is neat, but a bit too obtuse for me.

Not at all what I expected but I"m glad I played it.

I recommend this game as someone with complicated feelings towards Atlus games. Despite being a JRPG fan, there is something about the format of these games that doesn’t click with me, and I do find it something of a slog to get through the huge run time.

However, Metaphor is so beautifully crafted, so packed full of insane content and great character moments that there is no way I can’t recommend it - this is an incredible game.

This game features some of the best JRPG systems there has ever been. Combat is fast and snappy, stylish, tactical. The balance they find in these systems is stunning, it’s an absolute joy to play. The archetype system starts simple but by the final third of the game is this gorgeous, deep system that rewards experimentation and allows you to play however you want. I opted to make Strohl an insane one-hit-crit machine.

The art direction is gorgeous.

The sound direction is gorgeous.

The characters are some of the most beautiful, well-written companions I’ve ever had in any JRPG, and I love every single one of them. The English voice acting is out of this world, and it would feel insincere to highlight only one from such a stunning crowd (Louis tho). The voice acting cast is so diverse and talented, that I can’t think of a better game to demonstrate what games can be.

There are points I would be critical of - namely the writing often running into conveniences to keep the day/night cycle ticking along… but sitting here once credits have rolled, I can absolutely forgive those.

This game reminded me of Final Fantasy 9, in absolutely the best way possible. Gathering your party and exploring the fantasy world is so, so satisfying and appeals to me in a way that Persona never did. I truly love this game, an all-timer.

Fantasy lives on.

Just absolutely delightful.

Short, simple and incredibly moving. The art is stunning, but the family"s interactions are genuinely heartfelt and what I was here for the most. Made me want to go and hug my daughter.

No reason not to play this.

I"m closing in on the end now and have been itching to write a review. This is a really, really surprising game - I had such a blast playing it.

It"s definitely a love letter to Xcom, but it"s short and concise, doesn"t mess around and just lets you get on with the fun bits of the game. Oozing with style, lots of humour without being in your face.

I have come away really impressed by this game. If you"re after a 10-15 hour turn-based adventure with combat and puzzles, you cannot go wrong with this one.

I installed this game just to support the community"s outrage.

These devs are not good and what they"ve done to their community and game is utterly gross.

Just so gorgeous - every department is 12/10.

I played this with a constant smile on my face and was regularly saying "That"s so delightful" about every little thing that happened.

Such a minimal, short game had no right to move me like it did. I love it.

Received free from AMD rewards - otherwise, I doubt this game would shift any copies.

I was a bit worried some of the hate towards this game was racially charged, which would have been a bummer. But I can confidently say that it"s just a bad, janky game that somehow feels generic yet isn"t doing anything well.

The animation and art direction in particular are really horrible, but that"s made worse by ultrawide cutsccenes being squashed to 21:9.

What I could stand to play was just really, really bad.

It"s actually dumb how incredible the gameplay loop is.
