Can't believe i delayed playing this game for so long. It's such a well made game with so much to do without forcing it. This game knows that it isn't about battling bosses all the time, thus makes boss fights not extremely difficult and lengthy boss scenes have plenty of checkpoints so you're not stuck repeating something over and over. So much creative mini games and interactions, this game really is an inspiration.

Some things I wished I knew earlier (To make achievement hunting more pleasant):
A few things I wished I knew earlier though (especially if you're achievement hunting) - Get the dredge DLC the moment you start your story, because you can only fish dredge fish during fog which isn't every day. It gets jarring if you have to constantly skip time until you get a foggy day just to play this mode. Do the boss fights early on, at the last boss you get a tamagotchi mini game, it also again is very jarring if you're done with the main game and unlocked everything just for you to raise your pet every day. And thirdly, the dev achievement is super difficult to get, probably more difficult than finding the mjolnir.

Please don't make people link accounts when you can't even make a functional sign in, register or forgot password screen. I now can't play the game I purchased via steam because I'm not able to sign in into frontier and link the account.

6 years worth of people having issues with signing in / registering or linking their account. This is beyond ridiculous. No support at all either.

You start this game off with a tutorial that makes you more confused about what little you know about the game coming in. The UI is super text-heavy, but for no reason. It explains super obvious things in great detail and non-obvious things not at all, not even in the guides. You’ll spend a lot of time on forums, google, etc, is this what a career in development is like? The UI especially when building is the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen in my life, it really doesn’t need to be this difficult to use. The 'quick menu' is also not very intuitively organised, it's just random things stuffed under there it seems.

Controls with K M for the ship is something you need to get used to, it’s weird. But you get used to it and then you start to kind of like it. The controls for the Exocraft for the Minotaur are disgustingly terrible. Take every logic about movement, and now throw it out of the window, I honestly think you need to control it while being drunk because that’s how its movement feels like. The car has pretty much no physics and now I’m scared to unlock the rest.

Speaking of Exocrafts, they have a resource scanner but no visor ability. If the intention is to explore the planet but you can’t actually find useful POIs because you can use the visor inside a vehicle, what’s the point? You’re better off unlocking some movement upgrades like the jetpack jump, you’re faster than a vehicle and can use the visor at any time.

I had a tiny glimmer of hope that maybe you’re able to fly your freighter, or be able to fly large ships in which you can walk around in, but unfortunately that doesn’t exist but would be cool. Also, the entire UI talks about Freighters but when you see a freighter just like yours, it’s called a Frigate. Very confusing stuff.

Anywhosle, you use your spaceship, a lot and it amazes me that you’re not able to customise the ships' appearance, at all. You’re able to extensively customise your character down to the last detail, you’re able to change the colour of your freighter but not your ship, the one thing you see he most. Really hope this gets added in with an update, you find your perfect spaceship, you buy the doodoo colour special editon thinking you can change it and now you’re stuck with the yellow and green highlighted doodoo tin.

The main mission is incredibly boring, every mission within it is exactly the same, it's almost like you can feel the devs really not wanting to include a story mode but then being pushed by their investors because it generates more in-game use time. Construct a signal booster to find a bigger signal booster to talk to a guy to fly somewhere just so that you can repeat this again 50 times.

Then of course when you see the second main mission, the atlas path you think to yourself - wow, this looks really interesting, let me get a beer and dedicate my whole night to this one mission only to find yourself flying through 5 galaxies (and no, you can't jump directly because the end-galaxies are purposely out of jump range forcing you to fly through 5 galaxies every time) talking to the atlas dude, 11 times in a row where the only exciting thing is the atlas orb’s different animations, you feel a special kind of hatred coming up for the main missions to a point where you contemplate why you bought this game but then you remind yourself that you’re not actually obligated to do these missions.

Which then brings me to the reason why I’m giving this game a thumbs up - after unlocking nearly everything and playing the game how I want to play it, I can safely say that the game does not force you to complete main missions in order to progress with unlocking parts, receipts or generally interfere with your quest in selling as much chlorine to stations as you can in order to get rich and retire.

Although, the game seems to trick you into thinking you need to proceed with the main mission to unlock things, you only really need to get to the nexus and then you're all good. Everything else can be unlocked by finding buildings using a space map, nanites or units.

In short, this game is logical when it doesn’t matter and illogical when it does matter. The UI is very pretty, the UX not so much. However having played the game when it first came out, it’s unrecognisable in a very positive way, I actually enjoy it now. The online community of this game is incredible, I've never come across such a giving and non-toxic community.

This Amazon Delivery simulator is so realistic!

This game is absolutely stunning - from story to sound to graphic and design, it's addictive. Well done!

Honestly like most of the reviewers, if you were satisfied by Far Cry 5, don't get this game. It feels like a pure money grab - re-skinned enemies and environment. There's seemingly only 1 animal altered by nuclear radiation, the rest of the animals look exactly the same. The map feels like they took the entire FC5 map, removed half the buildings and replaced it with a nuclear desert.

Story is lacking, gets boring before you even start. And on top of all this, in-game purchases. On one side-mission you're asked to retrieve something from a safe, however you don't have lock-picking skill yet but fear not because you can now unlock it with extremely overpriced in-game purchases. What a joke.

TL;DR: Get Far Cry 6 instead

I'm really starting to enjoy this genre thanks to this game. There is a lot of things that keep me hooked but a lot of things that don't. I just love the atmosphere of it all, the raft-building aspect, the animals, the graphics. Just nice but given all this, there's also a lot of things that could make this game so much better.

I find myself going from island to island with no actual purpose other than gathering loot, the mystery fades very quickly especially with the lack of variety of ships, buildings and island types - there's about 3 different looking islands, 5 different ship types and I feel that they could have really really added some mystery and variety here.

I love raft building, something about taking your entire "house" with you is something ive always loved but I'd wish they'd extend on this concept, like being able to add more to the raft than the default items, maybe like adding a bed or being able to build walls and roofs.

A lot of interaction and graphical glitches plague this game, graphical glitches especially getting too close to (sea) animals make it sort of frustrating approaching any of them; you get dragged by a shark and when you turn around it vanished into deep sea, what. The fact that this game has controller support amazes me, it works well within the gameplay but not at all within the cartographer or map builder, you have to go as far as disconnecting the controller & restarting the game to use the thing with a keyboard again.

As for graphics, the game looks like a super modern RTX looking demo yet at the same time like they took a default unity starter template but in a good way.

TL;DR: Add more variety & mystery and extend on the raft building aspect.

EDIT: The new co-op is not good. Kicks one of you out every 20 mins and takes 10 mins or so to re-load the world.

Wow, just like a real startup, you're not entirely sure whether you have to complete these tasks and next thing you know, you're being asked to do other things and then 20 more things whilst still not having learnt all the skills yet, failing left and right whilst your mentors are busy not teaching you anything but talk about their accomplishments and how much better they are than you. 10/10 recommend

Solid game, would wish the story was more diverse as it feels a little repetitive after a while but I’ve really enjoyed the game and it makes me want to come back to it.
