i love this game

It's games like this that makes me wish steam had a "mixed" option between yes and no.

I'm not sure I've ever really felt the way I have about a game like this before. A sequel to one of my favorite indie games of time, HM2 follows up in such a weird and interesting way, continuing the story from the perspective of lots of different characters before and following the events of the first game. Where I find a lot of enjoyment in the story and seeing how everything connects, the gameplay to me just feels like it completely pales in comparison to the original.

The original had this system where you wear different animal masks that influence your style of play for every level. In 2, they shed away with this idea, allowing you a little bit of choice regarding your style, depending on what chapter you're playing and who you're playing as. Moving on from that, some characters and their play styles just feel like i'm having to wrestle for control instead of taking advantage of each new characters abilities (i.e. Corey, Alex and Ash, and unfortunately Beard, who might be my favorite character in the story.).

The level design in this game feels like it takes on a whole new philosophy, where it feels like you're rather strong armed into beating the level how the game wants you to instead of the originals way of going "here's the level, try and figure out how you wanna do it", not to say that you aren't encouraged into following specific orders in the first game, but it feels like you're actively kneecapping yourself if you don't follow the way the HM2 wants you to. I wont say that the game is "too hard", but it certainly just feels like a slog to run through, compared to the original where I can actively, albeit unintentionally speedrun the game over the course of like an hour.

These games are very different mechanically and it's unbelievably disappointing. Gone is the combo heavy ultraviolent arcade fun of the first, replaced with a weird ultraviolent puzzle game. It feels like the developers just fumbled hard.

I like the game a fair bit, I feel like its a bit rough around the edges visually still

it feels like looking at early development terraria compared to the current version, some polish will go a long way

One of the most mechanically dense and best zombie games i’ve ever played. The fact that you can tweak the settings in the sandbox mode takes it up another level. Take advantage of the workshop! There’s tons of quality of life mods there

its a good shooter, but by god this story is such a massive train wreck

Get this instead of Blood Bowl 3

Only buy this game for zombies, it's well worth it plus the workshop support is nuts
