Review after continued play:

Still not a fan of the pacing but I guess that was drilled into people's heads from the onset of the first preview trailer. It's hard to review the game when it's not even out, there's not even swords for god sakes(EA, yes). Mapping is a lot more interactive, and honestly looks like the start of something very cool. There are glaring issues in balance between archetypes but every way you look at it, it could be solved if the entire game was present. After the last 2 hotfixes I am now cautiously optimistic, while there are ways to bring up the speed of gameplay you will never return to PoE 1 type builds(in my experience only).

Rename to Chris Wilson's game 2.

Lot of dumb stuff they're doing that's going to sour the mouths of a lot of people. Early access be damned; showing NEW players that all you do is nerf is enough to send them packing. Fortunately for GGG, the competition is even worse. They are lucky their player base has been abused by Activision so heavily, so they can easily lap up trash like this with a smile.

literally one of the most fun/addicting games i've played in 2024

the game has a lot of issues, but the last section is probably the most half-assed POS I've ever played. no idea why they thought this was ok. game REQUIRES mods to fix shoddy stuff and even then it's a slog.

a child had a tantrum and ripped off my stonecrafter's arm, my surgeon saw this and couldn't take the stress and snapped and went berserk and started knocking people out in my hospital, which became a mess of red blood and green puke and no one could get medical attention all because i didn't build toys for the children(and also because i was making them bury the dead on purpose) probably the best game ive played in years

frustratingly unfinished, I only recommend if you have a group of dedicated players


After quite a bit more playtime:

The early game is very punishing, there are many things not explained well/just aren't gone over because it's a lot to learn. Experience in old STALKER games will 100% help you in this game, and I really appreciated that. Once you get over this hump(like any other STALKER game) your experience may start getting better. However I will say that spawn zones for players need to be adjusted. There is way too much pressure and stress on the player too early, and unfortunately this has caused most of the people I started playing with to stop playing. You need a higher tolerance for BS deaths(a black hole seemingly picking you up from no where, with no speed to help you escape early) or you will quit out of sheer frustration.

I hope updates will soften the blow on new players, because as it is, it's turning people away and that's sad because there is a good basis for something here. I do enjoy the game but there are some areas that definitely need a large improvement/refactored. The forced PvP/spawns/zone transition areas need to be changed to avoid the camping situation that's making so many people just outright quit. I'm not sure how RUS servers handled this(if they even did) but it's a huge turnoff for newbies.


If you're a hardcore STALKER series lover, play this game. If you're not, give it a try. The gear binding system is honestly brilliant for this type of game, but it still doesn't make the sting of trying to upgrade in early-mid game any better. Really hope updates are given to help these issues(at least they are issues in my eyes).

Small unrelated edit: This game honestly seems what GSC wanted Clear Sky to be.

Played for 40 minutes, lagged a bit, but I laughed the entire time. THIS is what I had hoped that other game would have been.

Works well on proton 4.2-9, unfortunately this is the only way to play the new DLC. However, the game is definitely playable and I have not experienced a crash with proton for at least 40 hours of gameplay.

Ubisoft should go bankrupt for ever releasing a game like this with the DRM it has. It's taken me 4 hours to get this game running, and only when I've had to edit group policies to get this garbage working do I have uplay crash my game and redownload files. I sure as hell hope Anno 2270 isn't this awful, or else ubisoft should just stop making Anno games.


Do not download this game, infact I bet you you'd have an easier time PIRATING this game than buying it.
