Remember the 80s? Neon synth laser 8-bit nintendo? This short film is a reminder that the neo 80's resurgence has become more worn out than the VHS tapes it desparetely idolizes. If the only thing you know about the 80s you picked up from Hotline Miami, vaporwave, tumblr, and Far Cry BD, you might enjoy this. Except those work. The whole short is one extended joke and feels like a rushed attempt at an otherwise neat concept. It crams whatever it can and results in a random cluster of "things" that feels like a cheap attempt to capture the aesthetic, even if it's meant to be an exaggeration. It's only 30 minutes so give it a watch anyway. I do reccommend checking out Danger 5, which takes this exact concept and purpose and executes it in a much more charming and admirable fashion. Turbo Kid, Hotline Miami, Far Cry Blood Dragon, Miami Connection, Samurai Cop, Hobo with a Shotgun, Danger 5, and possibly even Drive are all worth checking out if you want a fix of fun 80s shlock. I really should just write these reviews on a movie site instead.
