After a couple of quick updates and some feedback from the developers I feel like my overall impression of the game has improved. The UI issues like the lack of details on the cards, tiny fonts, and other annoyances are things the developers have promised to address. They've also mentioned considering bringing back more house rules. Personally, I’d love to see a classic art pack because let’s be honest the new art style just doesn’t do it for me.

Steam workshop support would be a game-changer. It would let the game grow beyond just the official DLCs. I get that Steam isn’t the sole source of revenue for the game but adding workshop support even as a long-term goal would be incredible.

The game is still finding its footing and since I’ve spent countless hours on the 4th edition I’m willing to cut this one some slack and give a good score as a bit of a leap of faith. Talisman is a game I love and so do my friends. I’ve got all the Pegasus Spiele expansions, a couple of custom boards, unofficial add-ons and the digital version on every platform. So yeah I’m rooting hard for this to live up to its legacy.

Right now there isn’t much content yet but knowing that the DLCs from the 4th edition carry over is a big plus. In that sense the price for the base game might be justified.

For now I’ll keep watching for updates and crossing my fingers that this will eventually outshine the 4th edition.
