Then, on one starry night, as fireflies danced around them, Mordecai finally said, "Shrek, dude, I know this is crazy, but you make me feel like... like the times when I'm totally not messing up at work. Like I actually got it together."
Shrek's face softened, a rare smile crossing his lips. "Mordecai, ye daft bird, ye make me feel like I don’t have to hide behind me layers anymore. Yer not like anyone else I’ve ever met."
With that, Mordecai took Shrek’s big, green hand in his blue wing, and they sat there, in silence, knowing that no matter where their worlds took them, they’d always have this swampy love, this peculiar bond between an ogre and a blue jay that nobody else could ever quite understand.
