Not exactly a souls-like. but tales souls-like elements where it makes this game have its own identity.
Fun but linear gameplay, which takes me back to the classic times when games aren't over-complicated.

Early Access Review
Ark survival evolved / Valheim with Pokémon. Monster hunter esque combat with BOTW elements. 1 million concurrent players one day after early access release, beating CS2 and Lethal Company. Believe the hype. I can’t believe this dev studio managed to pull something off like this. A mix of different themes from a variety of games that actually ends up working flawlessly…
Also Pokémon slavery

Great game for the price. Been having lots of fun but the cops can be a bit too much sometimes, where I'm just trying to get to a race and I end up in an unwanted cop chase... then having to spend 10 minutes to lose them before starting a race.

If you are a Monster Hunter diehard fan, do not skip this game

I've played every US release of Monster Hunter since Freedom 2 on the PSP and this is no exception as a great addition. Fantastic game with hundreds of hours of gameplay like usual Monster Hunters. A lot of QOL passed down from world and a great deal of vertical movement and fresh weapon combos added to the game, which makes it feel new and more fast paced than some other Monster Hunter games, especially the older ones.

A great game with a linear, but exceptionally well written story line and voice acting. Characters are likable and memorable with good character development. Dialogue is interesting. Although the choices you make don't impact the outcome of the story and ending, they do impact the dialogue and certain functions of the game that will make things easier/harder.

Absolutely banger of a soundtrack list.

20 hours to finish the game and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. There is still new game plus afterwards so you can use all the abilities that you unlocked from playing the game the first time.

The game feels polished, but there are still common bugs (mostly your team members or you getting stuck).

Because of how long the story is, the combat does get a bit repetitive after a while (but it is still fun).

8/10. This is a very story driven game. Do not skip dialogue. It is a must buy on sale if $40 or under.

Not good in its current state. 2042 has a lot of potential when more features get added and the game gets more refined by mid next year, much like Battlefield 3 and 4's buggy lackluster launches.

The good:
- Guns feel good.
- Portal is great and has a lot of potential to be a very fun and diverse game mode.
- 2042 reminds me of the good old Battlefield 3 and 4.
- Matches are still exciting to play and some instances are very fast paced.

The mid:
- Maps are okay, although some I find too large (Too much running from point to point).
- Not enough weapons (compared to BF3, BF4, BF5), although can get added slowly down the line.
- Storm and tornado effects are in EVERY map. There's no difference. It's very cool and fun at first but loses its appeal later on when you see it all the time in almost every map and they do the same thing every time. The tornado does nothing and acts as a jump tower from APEX Legends. Levolution was better. Atleast it was different on every map and changed the way the map played each time.
- In my opinion, agents are OK. They are unique enough where you can pick different ones and have a different time/playstyle with each; and there is a good amount of agents at the moment. However, it takes away from the traditional Assault, Support, Medic, Recon fixed loadouts. Class creation is just like call of duty now. (You can run C4 with a healer agent with defib)

The bad:
- Weapons are not balanced.
- Too much recoil on ARs.
- No recoil on SMGs (at this point, SMGs can out-range ARs).
- Snipers maybe got too much of a buff from beta.
- Poor hit reg and a lot of server issues (for now).
- Hazard zone is disappointing. There is no risk and reward involved. The currency that you get to buy other guns for your next "raid" is not enticing at all. Maybe have this currency be used for cool skins or player card cosmetics that you can show off across game modes.
- Not enough vehicles (Where's the LAV-300 equivalent here???)

Missing things that NEED to be added or fixed:
- NO FULL SCOREBOARD
- CANNOT CHANGE SQUADS
- NO SERVER SELECT (only in portal)
- NO VOICE CHAT
- NO ALL TEXT CHAT (cannot talk to enemy team)

- Some of the bugs I've encountered:
- Not being able to revive someone
- Getting stuck in downed state
- Setting attachments in portal is wonky using the new attachment system
- Cant open parachute or get out of vehicles sometimes

Maybe some of these things will get fixed on the day 1 patch, so I'll update my review as necessary.
As a battlefield fan, I am fairly disappointed on the many essential things that are missing, but I have high hopes that in the next few months they will get this game on the right path, like all the other battlefields.

I do not recommend buying the game right now, maybe in a few months time.

Horizon 5 has been rough at the start on launch day but a lot of graphical rendering issues and server issues have been fixed. If you loved Forza Horizon 4, you will definitely enjoy Horizon 5. Improved graphics, sound quality, and gameplay all round while still keeping it Horizon at its core.
