Having recently completed Mafia 1 Definitive, I was eager to get my hands on the next instalment, but found the 2 titles surprisingly different. Not necessarily in a bad way, some things felt like improvements, others like downgrades, but on the whole, it was still a thoroughly enjoyable title I ploughed through as I was again addicted to the story.

Set a decade after the original, times, music and cars have changed, but the underworld remains the same. The story in Mafia 2 is another work of art, full of twists and turns as you'd expect.

Once again, the shooting and combat feels a little skittish and not quite right, but as before, this isn't trying to be a AAA shooter or GTA clone. You play for the story and are along for the ride.

The Mafia 2 Definitive is just a remaster, not the same level of remake quality of Mafia 1, so if you come from 1 Definitive to 2 Definitive, expect a "minor" downgrade in visual fidelity, but otherwise, it still holds its own, in no way ugly.

Amazing soundtrack, fantastic voice acting again. Definitely worth a playthrough when it's on sale.

Moving on to try Mafia 3 next!
