TLDR: A beautiful game with poor balance, tons of bugs and a PvE/PvP scene where better gear is the solution to 90% of your problems. You may grind premium currency, which is great, so if you like the gameplay this may yet be the game for you.

I have been playing this game for a while now, and I've been in top alliances and rank 1 guilds, while being 100% F2P, farming lucent through smart use of ingame resources. The graphics are beautiful, but the game feels overall quite lackluster.

My biggest gripe with the game is the language filter, where numbers(!) at some point was censored. The child friendly language filter is very strict, and there is no way to turn off the filter if you want to experience conversations like an adult. Half the MMO experience is thus moved to Discord or similar services. At launch a sentence like: "Are you able to play between 19:30-22:00?" would contain "prohibited words or sentences."

T&L is an ok game if you're looking for an MMO fix in between games, but it is very grindy in certain aspects. You have to be glued to your PC to compete in "activity rating". The PvE scene is ok in the early stages, but later on you can ignore a lot of mechanics as long as you have the dps.

The huge concern in my opinion is the large scale PvP and small scale PvP. This is usually not a big deal, but T&L's endgame is PvP, so it deserves the highest scrutiny.

If you have the gear, spec and numbers for the job, you'll just flat out win. There is very little counterplay. Example: A spinner is countered by counter barrier SNS skill, but a gear difference makes the counter irrelevant. Once you have gear however, the SNS/wand player may seem immortal if you have cooldowns. Even with two opposing teams of similar strength, the entire pvp combat feels like a knockoff version of the WvW scene in Guild Wars 2. (A game which is pretty old). There is also less strategy involved as you're basically just fighting for area control and the penalty for death is very low. To get enjoyment out of the PvP scene your PC needs to be able to handle hundreds of players on the screen at the same time, so make sure you use a guide for recommended settings for maximum playing pleasure.

Large numbers of players working together (70-player full guild) is countered by very large number of players (280 - full cap alliance), which will be countered by extreme solutions (560 players abomination alliance). The PvP scene for bosses thus becomes a race to the bottom. Precise gameplay doesn't matter when you reach these big numbers unless you and your teammates are running on NASA computers with excellent latency.

As of 29. of October 2024 the game seems VERY unpolished. There are still instances where the English voice track is replaced with some asian language (Korean?). On the fire festival event, you don't even have to search for these bugs. Several of the max lvl events are bugged, where final bosses do not spawn or appear in a bugged form. This causes you to lose an entire event reset worth of rewards. The end result for the "chase for rank 1 acitivity" is basically just players spamming the events that actually works properly, like "lantern seed festival". (although the bonus boss here is also bugged somewhat).

Also, expect random disconnects. Preferably at crucial moments like when you're about to recieve rewards. It's just "a part of the game" for 75% of the players I've played with.

The trial lets you experience the single player game for at least a few hours. The game has a decent story and there are several QoL-modes that makes your playtime more comfortable. Example: Being overleveled and grinding low level mobs can be boring, so they've included a one-shot abililty for when you are massivley OP compared to the opponent. Good fun so far.

May update with more info as I play along.
