Although there is lots of haters, this is exactly what I expected. I bought the Constellation Edition as my 60th birthday present because I knew from first hearing details of game design it would be something I would enjoy... and I have not been disappointed.

Life is not all roses here, there are some things that are skipped over. Like why can't we guide our ship to a landing area? There are many games that do, and have for years (Like Evochron, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, No Man's Sky... etc) so landing shouldn't really be that big of a deal. Or mentioning the lack of speed of ships vs planet to planet travel... Even today we have basic speeds of 7,800 m/s (28,000 km/h; 17,000 mph) and the game gives us a crawl (indication the invent of folding space also seriously dumbed down the normal speed to 100mps or so). There are several issues...

Having noted that, it is basically Skyrim in the early days before they buffed it up several time. I am a bit surprised they went with the same programming model, they should have improved more. With all that said, It is as wonderful as Skyrim and Fallout games in a much larger area.

Now the weird thing on larger area maps is they 'feeling' that you ARE in a larger is heavily damaged buy the ability to just 'fast travel' to just about anything because of the lack of self-piloting and being able to just land where you are going rather than having to search over large swaths of land, finding a landing space, then tracking a bit more. Too much hand feeding. This doesn't hinder the variety or look or game story or new things feeling, but does eat into making it a game and more a follow the dot path, it wouldn't make much to fix that, or mods will happen.

Simply, I love the game. I will play the game. I seriously hope they will improve the game.

As a starting it is the right direction. As of this writing there were some things that really needed fixed faster than others.

Getting thirsty is WAY to fast. I have taken survival courses and know that it takes more than a day to get actually deadly thirsty, also a basic 101 is IF you get a fire going you just need to take the charcoal and wrap it in a cloth (and there was lots at the various places and even the sheets on the bed) and run the stagnant water 1 - 2 times thru the makeshift filter and you get clean, nasty tasting, but clean water. Also the boat had a built in sink pump, they have filters built in, just fill it's tank or hook the filter to the tap. You have a stove with a pot, you can make fire and boil the water. There was rain, there is a good use for the pot when not cooking. There were several other ways I could see to make ready clean water.

Eating, it takes 3-5 days to start dying of thirst, it takes up to 2 weeks to starve to death.

Ok, on the graphics... although it SAW my resolution of my screen, it's couldn't use it.

Playable area in the game was easy to bypass and run around on unplaced asset area and 'behind the scenes' just by climbing rocks.

The craft was sort of ok, except you never actually DO craft, it just happens. But needing something from inventory or have to use my watch is a bit confusing and doesn't make much sense.

I am NOT bashing the game, I am just mentioning these are needing to get focused on. Keep heading that way.

Even though this game is several years old, the incredible immersive graphics and storyline make this an amazing movie quality adventure. The acting it top notch, the quality of the world around you is breathtaking. This is much like a cinematic trailer, but through the whole game.

Having said this, there are some bugs and graphic clipping that becomes a minor issue. The save system is a bit wonky, interesting to use, but if they went through the whole process to create a different kind of save system, then not actually allow it to be used through long sections of gameplay is odd.

10/10 for quality, story, and visual
6/10 for performance optimization, and weird save issues

There should be optional graphic adjustment (such as arrow trails on/off), and alchemy is a bit fast if you are disabled.

It is amazing and so incredibly realistic... mind you there are subtle things that I hope to see eventually *such as coastlines have overlay water waves rather than static... more activity movement of roads in cities... I know, picky, but a sim should sim, all parts of the environment.

One of the most realistic games out there--- but no religion based, which is needed for the time frame.

They say timing is everything, and this couldn't have come at a better time!! It's a wonderful break from reality right now.

The program is pretty basic, it is exactly what it says on the tin, you can select particles and set a 15 - 30 - infinity time to stay immersed. It works fantastically laying down. The new age relaxing music aids quite well, or maybe place your favorite ASMR on in the background instead (you can't select a different soundtrack however)

And best to top it off, it's FREE

This is a EA review and subject to change.
The game is pretty darn good actually for a EA, mostly playable.

Having said that there are a few game-destroying issues.

1) Making fire. Now it is an amazing close to real life effort to start a fire rubbing sticks together (I broke my expensive mouse in the process). If you have arthritis or any sort of the many disabilities that affects many players... you will never start a fire. Several (including me) accidentally let the fire go out and just gave playing rather than deal with starting a fire again. (I have suggested a fix to the DEV)
2) The crafted tool belt isn't. A tool-belt is, by definition, a belt to put your tools so they are around your waist and not in a box or bag. However, in this game it just means you can make a mapped key to the backpack that just 9 spaces, but does nothing to solve the cramped space by making a belt that doesn't actually do anything. I also have a programming suggestion for that one but the fire is a bigger issue by far.
3) There are several items one can make that can't be used in a house that souls be able to go in the house.

There are more bug things but those are just basic. Like I said, it's a great start, but once you try and make a fire it may end up making buy a new mouse.

Having been with NMS at the beginning I have watched it change. Now there have been some amazing advances in the game, it's quality, it's imaging, the scope.... And all of it incredible... except (you saw this coming)...

I only have 1 complaint, I mean sure, I can come up with dozens of ideas on new things but there is just 1 complaint...

1) Variety

Basically once you have mapped one planet no matter where you go in the galaxy they ALWAYS look the same... totally the same. There should be a planet or solar system wide standard but when you go to the next one there should be a procedural re-design on what you can find so they look new. Relating, the ability to find the same of everything in any system doesn't make sense (I know, it's a game, bust basic law of adaption says different systems developed from different materials).

Now yes, there are some growth changed and plant changes and the creature changes, but if that all can change why can't mineral structure, rock shape, chemical plants alter... each planet should be a whole new world, not just the same basics again and again.

And in the idea suggestions, Hello Games went through great effort to make a night and day, but you never get tired and intelligent life never move from the same spot 24/7, allows, they don't know how to walk...or get up or sit down, or even go the the bathroom (notice there are no bathrooms?)
