Super fun game, the build crafting borrowed from auto chess games mixed with classic snake is a ingenious combo. The soundtrack is very good, in fact its the only soundtrack I've ever bought for a game. I do find myself struggling in NG 4 and 5 in what feels like totally hopeless runs, getting crushed in the later levels. But I'm sure with more hours and the right build it's definitely doable. Overall, its a fantastic game for only 3 bucks and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to play an arcadey rogue-like with a surprising amount of depth.

I need to stop going into Riot's new stuff trying to dislike it. After Arcane I should have learned my lesson, but here I was wanting the game to suck. It def does not, and I have been sitting here playing it for way too long.

The goat of classic rogue-likes. Fantastic gun play, fun characters, good levels, and all the guns you could want. I got this game about 5 years ago and always come back to it. Nuclear Throne when you first start is brutal and unforgiving, and as you figure out the movement, your favorite weapon combos, and perks, you'll start to see your own skill and knowledge pay off. Speeding through levels, placing bullets and rockets perfectly, slipping around enemy projectiles, and decimating bosses with the most powerful guns on your way to the throne gives a feeling of power and mastery that most other games can't pull off.

While some of the more overpowered weapons can do a lot of the work for you, if you aren't good at the game, you won't see much success, but that's what makes the game so rewarding. With minimal perks and items, your skill is the only thing you can truly rely on, and that is Nuclear Throne's true brilliance.
