It is times like this I wish Steam had a ''mixed'' review option. While the 1.0 update is very solid and lays the ground work for future updates, there are still quite a few glaring issues with it that I feel need to be addressed:

-SWAT A.I is indeed much better and you have more extensive control over what they can do (plus voice-acting), but they still make mistakes. Despite the claims in the dev log, they still over-extend, they prioritise securing evidence in the middle of the mission which is dangerous, and you can’t claim someone’s spot in the stack freely.

-Despite the claim of trailers, I have personally yet to see them. I have tried soft completing a mission in co-op and commander mode and waiting, nada. Would be happy to know if others have seen them.

-Suspect A.I has been suped the hell up. They’re incredibly aggressive, resistant to less-than-lethal methods, and mock-surrender a lot more. The tutorial instills in you the idea to prioritise arrests over kills, but then you’re actively encouraged to go lethal due to the unpredictable and volatile A.I behaviour. It’s weird.

-Which brings me to my next point, less-lethal options are far less effective for some reason. Flashbangs and stingers affect you much more often and suspects hit with beanbags and pepper balls barely react. Once again, the game encourages you to go Death Squad mode despite telling you to go for arrests first.

-The new “Twitch streamer” map is a bit misleading. Trailer gives off the idea of a swatting situation with a single suspect who is possibly armed, perfect for a beginner mission to get a feel for the game, and then it turns out he’s guarded by about six to seven additional suspects who fight like they’re in Iraq.

-Performance has tanked significantly. Stuttering, random freezes, and framerate dips galore. It may work fine for some people, but there have been reports of these issues en masse since the update dropped.

There are more things I could write here, but these are the most salient points. Game is still a good Co-Op experience worth your money and single player is actually good now as well, but there is still a lot of work left to be done and as excited I am as everyone else, maybe calling it 1.0 is still a bit of a reach.
