I can absolutely wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Unless you hate reading that is.

I was very disappointed by the out of date options menu in a full price Remake.
Unfortunately I had some audio issues which made the dialogue very unenjoyable and I couldn't find a way to fix it with the bare bones sound options in Mass Effect 1.

This is a better version of those choose your own adventure books. Comparable to the "Choice" games that are also on steam like "Choice of Robots"
However it improves the formula by having a very intriguing character system, that is also easy to understand.
The visuals, music and sound effects are also very much superior to any of the "Choice" games I have mentioned. The whole package creates an amazing atmosphere while reading. I personally couldn't stop and can't wait for the full release!

There is a simple question to ask yourself before buying this game:

Do you have a high resilience to bugs? ( Including having to reload A LOT to fix them )
If you do, then go ahead and buy this game right away. The amazing atmosphere and story is worth it even at this point.
There is a 10/10 core game here, that is just suffering from bugs and lack of polish in certain aspects.

If not, wait AT LEAST half a year until they fixed this mess and implemented some better systems. The Definitive Edition of this game will hopefully be absolutely incredible.

If you don't have 9 friends to play with, just look for a discord server and find some randoms to play with.
It is well worth it

I recommended this game since it came to steam. Unfortunately since then, they still kept adding new bugs to the menu and matchmaking while also not fixing their unreliable servers that keep switching between awesome and god aweful.

We are in season 12 and they still can not fix the servers and bugs. At the same time, they released the best map ever with Olympus. But they decided to not make it playable for ablout all of season 11. I stopped playing for that reason and came back when they reintroduced Olympus in season 12. However the same Ping and lag issues serverside and main menu bugs are still too annoying and game breaking to keep supporting this game.

I once didnt recommend this game. But now the hackers are gone and the bugs are kinda gone.
So I actually can't recommend this enough. Play it with a friend or 2 or 3. It is a lot of fun

There are so many free games in the steam workshop. A collection this big would cost thousands of dollars in real life. Even the DLCs are well priced since only one person has to own them.

I really wanted to like this game, and I did, up to a certain point.
Unfortunately this game is pay2win at its purest form. You can buy packs, that contain skills. If you get a skill that you already own, you get upgrade points. So you can either invest a lot of time and days to gain those skill upgrades (sometimes making up 3% per upgrade, up to like 25%)
Or you buy their Cardpacks to gain the same advantage.

Everyone that is starting out without investing money, is gonna have a huge disadvantage.
Now, this is just the perspective after playing this game for the first day. The problem will get worse and worse, because active players keep gaining upgrades while new players have to compete with the basic skill set.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! Wait if they change their business model, otherwise let it die

For the given price of about 18€, I can recommend this game. You get 10 card packs which can be worth enough on the market to make some money back. (if you are lucky) Or you can use them to improve on the basic decks, that you are given.
However if you only want to play constructed, you might be disappointed. There is no way to get new cards, except for buying them on the marketplace or buying card packs with real money.
This basically means, that you can't ever be competitive without spending money.

However, the casual draft mode is available for everyone that owns the game. This is where you can put in the hours to make this game more than worth the pricetag.

Also, you can use the 5 event tickets that come with the purchase to play the competitive draft mode, where you have the chance to earn a few extra card packs and actually get some thrilling games.

The "free" part of the game is definitely worth it. You might be tempted to spend more money on this game though. So be wary of that :)
