An incredibly entertaining puzzle game with alot more content than it seems depending on how much you want to dive into its layers of ARG style gameplay. Unfortunately, a fair amount of secrets feel like they"re just "Throw your body at every wall or shadow to hope its a secret wall." which gets annoying really quick, and you won"t want to finish if you"re not a specific type of gamer..

The World of The Syndicate one is one that clearly had alot of work put into it. Each character feels both as alien as an immortal old god worshiping folk do, while at the same time being no different from the Citizens they enslave, all in danger of being lost to their demons that seek to invade the island. Over time, conspiracies involving each character are revealed, but they"re never solved. The key feature of this game is that after a certain point in time, the trails go cold, and you hope that what you have is enough to consolidate your truth, or is there something you"ve missed that could bring it wide open. Only at the trial to end all trials can you create a truth and convict those you deem guilty.

That"s an important thing to have, considering the main meat of the game is running around a massive vaporwave island, jamming out to inspired tunes that really sell the idea of this once paradise (for those in the Syndicate). Trekking around to each person in response to each new piece of dialogue or evidence found can be a bit overbearing at times, especially at the start when you don"t have much in the way of direction. There are several extra abilities LLD can get to make traversing easier, such as a double jump, which really come in handy. However, the game was designed around not ever needing those powers to beat it, so some puzzles, be they jumping or problem solving, can be skipped with even just one, leading to the game boiling down into keymashing to collect everything.

Once the Island has been explored and you"ve cracked every case as open as you can, it is time to let loose the floodgates of justice and bring the world to its end with one final dealing of death. Or, do it the minute you get onto the island and make a fool of yourself. The game is about finding your own truth, and if you want, denying it. Pursue a case that will leave everyone on the island guilty, or ignore clear signs of wrong doing to prevent someone from facing the end of your gun, its up to the player. This amount of freedom, however, comes at a cost, as if players were expecting alternative endings based on who is executed then they won"t be happy with it. What happens after the credits roll is left largely up to the player, with your choices determining only who is around to interact with after delivering the final (or not) judgement. In addition, what the trials boil down to is just presenting evidence you have all together, not carefully selecting the right one to break alibi"s or point flaws in testimony, as that is all done long before you pick your gun up once more.

While not a perfect game, Paradise Killer is an enjoyable sequence of open world exploration of a dead paradise and a deep look into the flawed human sides of immortal people guilty of crimes big and small, but it falters with the ending that it builds up for the entire game.

You"re doing great. YOu have a full crew, maxed out systems, you can take down every ship and dodge every missle from the inside. But you got no weapons the entire run other than a simple mark 1 laser gun, so you restart the run since you can"t beat the final boss without some semblence of weaponry.

So you restart the game and do it all over again. And you enjoy it all.

An incredibly fun RTS that revolves around recruiting wandering mercenaries and completing hidden quests in your journey to unite (or destroy) the world.

Currently, there are 3 translated races. I played the Lizardmen, which have very small selection of units available to it AND is not allowed to recruit humans do to their carnivorus nature, which puts them at a sheer disadvantage late game when your enemy has dozens of named units and you have only a handful.

The soundtrack is wonderful, and fast paced, even though the songs repeat they"re never annoying.

The artstyle is fantastic, every character portrait is detailed.

It encourages thoughtful usage of your men, since you"re limited to 24 groups of units on a field at one time. Do you put heavy focus on your front line, using sheer power to break into the enemy lines? Do you put focus on your backline, giving you the ability to disrupt and wittle down the charging enemies? Do you send a group of swordsmen to take out the enemy backliners (Oh who am I kidding, always do this)

That being said, holy moly does that tutorial and various systems need worked on.

It doesn"t tell you that pausing is possible.

It doesn"t explain how important the trust mechanic is.

It doesn"t explain much really.

My first playthrough, atleast 10 hours, came to a grinding stop because I realized a bunch of these things way too late.

Many of the systems also don"t make sense, the trust mechanic being one. Why does attacking an ally make your men more likely to run away from a fight?

Why are certain enemies able to spam pushback skills, drawing out fights as your men race fail to reach them, adding minutes onto a fight?

Why are you unable to mold squads together, instead of having to individually drag characters from one squad to another when you just want to move your units around.

All those gripes though, can be avoided if you merely read the FAQ ahead of time.

It was fun when It was actually playable, now theres a glitch that prevents me from even playing it because the developers would rather scam their fans than complete the game. I"m glad I bought this game when it was on sale and only cost a few bucks, I can"t imagine paying 15 bucks for this.
