This used to be one of the most polished games I'd ever played until it was sold to another company.

Great game. The base rooms are very fun and kudos for all the free DLC the devs release. The community is also very active and has some of the best rooms.

Early Access Review
Awesome game and so much potential for future content. The core gameplay loop is very fun, though you shouldn't go in with the wrong expectations. Each mission is self-contained, meaning you start from one of your chosen default ship loadouts. The missions range from short to long, longer ones requiring more resource management and side objectives to collect materials. The game is a blast with friends, and we all naturally fit into one of the many roles and tasks for managing aspects of the ship. Each is substantial that no one feels unfulfilled or like they are left out.

There are some bugs, but I haven't come across anything game-breaking yet. Overall, hope the devs keep updating the game and look forward to the full release!

OMORI is a masterpiece of a game packed with love and detail. One thing that set it apart for me was how much fun it was to explore. Each area has fun NPCs to talk to and things to interact with.

The story is obviously the highlight of this game. It's told beautifully, slowly feeding you hints throughout your play through until you are able to piece it together on your own. The characters are all fun and lovable, each with their own unique personality. The dynamic is so natural that at the end it almost feels as if they were your friends too, and seeing the credits roll makes you feel sad to be saying goodbye.

There is an alternate route which I highly recommend completing after the main one, as its just extra content waiting to be found. Including the alternate route, you can get about 30-50 hours of playtime out of the game, excluding completionist achievements.

The combat is quite fun too. It's kind of like a rock-paper-scissors system where enemies and party members can be afflicted with certain emotions, some of which are more powerful against other (happy beats angry beats sad). The fights themselves are quite fair and you don't need to farm for xp or items to stand a chance against them (except for some optional bosses).

All in all this game might be the best thing I've had the pleasure of playing at least in the last couple of years. If you're still reading this, go buy it! You won't regret it.

The remaster to the 2010 cult classic NieR Replicant. I never played Replicant when it first came out, NieR:Automata was my introduction to the series. For others like me who only played Automata, this game does not disappoint. My review will ignore the (in my opinion minor) technical issues with the PC port.

I found this game even more character driven than Automata, as some of the characters you cannot help but fall in love with. The story, on par with Yoko Taro, is excellent and loves to spin on itself many times, shattering the illusion of a "traditional RPG story". In terms of gameplay, it has been wildly upgraded from the original, where combat was its weakest element. Here, it's okay in all aspects. No one would play this game for the gameplay, but it acts as a good filler in between the main attraction (the story). The graphics are also okay, albeit slightly underwhelming considering it's 2021. However, you can tell that much care has been put into the character models specifically, and they are amazing.

The music in this game is also beyond incredible. The soundtrack is both beautiful and sad, and is used very effectively throughout the story. Both NieR Replicant and NieR:Automata have some of the best music in gaming.

One way this game does show its age is through the side quests and often mundane, repeated tasks that you have to get through (go here, defeat this, go back, report mission, go and defeat something else). Many of the side quests don't have intriguing plotlines like they did in Automata, as many of them are simply fetch-quests. The various areas of the game are interesting, but again comparing to Automata, not nearly as varied or colourful.

The remaster also adds some additional content to the game that wasn't present in the original (a brand-new ending as well as a new story quest) that serve as great supplements to the story (and frankly, I cannot imagine having played the original without these additions).

This game is incredible and well worth the price. You can get about 40-50 hours of playtime out of it in one complete playthrough (all endings and most side quests). Definitely recommend for everyone, especially Automata fans.
