Truly is nothing as it seems with Superliminal. The game swiftly subverted my expectations and proved my first impressions to be incorrect. For example, I thought this would be an interesting game.

Calls itself a "puzzler" but is actually a walking simulator and, unfortunately, it lacks the charm and character that most walking sims bring to the table.

The "mind-bending", "surreal" nature of the game amounts to some interesting effects work but it never really wows or disrupts anything other than shallow, first-glance perceptions. There is no intellectual or thought-provoking dialogue to be found here. Nor will you find humour, wit, or substance.

You'll catch glimpses of what could have been great mechanics as you walk the bland and uninteresting halls of the game, but you'll never see them bloom into anything substantial before the game stops pretending to have puzzles and morphs fully into a bland walking sim.

Perhaps the community content is better, but the game has left me with no desire to find out.
