good game, absolutely worth the money.

a lot of issues start to crop up at end game, but none of them are bad enough to make me stop playing and not recommend the game. Compared to the other popular ones: it"s leagues ahead of D4, but not as good as Path of Exile.

for turbo nerds:
- there is offline mode - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unprecedented in this day and age with arpg"s.
- you can zoom and explode packs of mobs the whole time, if you want. or take it slower.
- you can choose solo self found or trading, and swap back at any time (with a couple limitations).
- end game is pretty repetitive but satisfying enough to grind away at.
- build diversity sucks, every build is good (which is fine because for the most part, every build has a fun factor) but that translates into everyone doing the same thing and no real room to experiment. nothing about the build really feels like your own or gives you the feeling that you figured it out. unique items seem cool at first, but in practice are just as strictly defined as D3/D4.
- set items are so bad that pretty much no one uses them for anything (I think there is 1 exception).
- the game difficulty is __absolutely trivial__ up until the later stages of end game, which took 50+ hours to get to. pretty subjective whether this is a good thing or not.
- loot filters are great, but there are issues when clicking things on the ground not feeling responsive.
- performance takes a plummeting nose dive when there are a lot of enemies on screen (more than it should).
- the dungeons are cool, if easy to complete.
- many of the boss fights lack any kind of impact. feels a little unpolished.

This game was pivotal to my MMO experience back in the days before WoW, if it had as many players as back in the day it would be fun in its current state. It"s a real shame to see the game completely neglected by the developers and left to rot. In saying that, the game itself is a great old school MMO experience even still. There are still some frustrating mechanics from an age ago, like dropping all your loot on death and having to go get it (the map is LARGE).

Completely full of pay 2 win features that feel like bandaid monetisation due to incompetence with creating something compelling. However, you can just ignore all of that and play the game normally for free, which is far more than I can say for other MMO"s in this bracket.

A lot of the charm and what made the original game fun is still there, though. The help channel still has plenty of people willing to share tips about the game, community is generally pretty good imo. Shame about the current developer. Get your act together or sell this game to someone who actually gives a ♥♥♥♥.

I still recommend giving it a shot if you like old school MMO"s. It was my favorite back in the day and largely responsible for pushing me into a (still going) programming career from spending so much time building fan sites. I still want to make a game like this one day, heavily inspired by my experiences in this one.

One of those games where it feels like getting a swift kick to the nuts every time you are handed a reward. The game is balanced around the marketplace, which inherently ties balance to the cash shop. Content release is staggered to the point where progressing in the end game feels substantially slower than previously (which can be directly alleviated by spending real money. this is a common pattern). The support team (not community/forum support staff, they are fine) will trip up on each other and tell you different things if you have a problem.

I don"t know what"s happening over there at AGS/Smilegate, but I highly recommend avoiding this game until they actually release all the missing content. It"s not a good experience right now.

Extremely fun gameplay. So fun, it makes all the done-a-thousand-times mmo end game systems worth playing. So fun, it makes me forget all the female characters are wearing stilettos on the battlefield.

In fairness, once the combat becomes stale, this game has nothing to offer.
