With the latest updates my opinion of the game changed, before it was a fun, new unique experience i haven't seen from any other game ive played before. You could have fun solo, with randoms, or with friends. Latest update made it a crime to not have a full squad. They increase the enemy spawn rate by 75% for playing alone, making it absolutely impossible for you to actually finish a game solo, or if no one joins your game.

Your friends arent available to play with you? No ones responding to your SOS? Oh well heres hundreds of more enemies for little ol you have to kill to try and finish a mission!

I then wake up today to see they are now REQUIRING a sony playstation account to even play the game i purchased ON STEAM. Whats next, im going to need a playstation plus subscription to play? This is complete BS, playstation/sony has a history of being hacked over and over again. Why would i want to give my personal information to them when they cant even protect it?

This needs to be made against steams TOS for EVERYONE. The difference from other games is they explicitly tell you that a 3rd party launcher/account is required to run the game ON PURCHASE. These guys let you buy it without requiring any other account and then changed their terms months later.

If i buy a game on steam, i should only require steam.

EDIT 5/4/2024: SONY has now banned 177 countries from launching, playing, or buying helldivers now. Including their home country of japan. They have also banned all VPN's Proxies and even satellite ISP's like Starlink from playing the game. They are also demanding new playstation accounts give government ID and buy playstation 5 consoles in order to complete account sign ups and play helldivers on your PC...

I really tried to like this, i really did. But the amount of middle fingers in this game is insane.

You cannot generate tech, you have to look for it. And you need to research everything in tier 1 and 2 to unlock a few upgrades for the most important buildings in the game. Later in game you CAN unlock an upgrade that will start generating research points, but this will require you to unlock everything up to tier 3, and sock over 100 research points into this upgrade. And considering you only get 10-20 points per expedition, which are a one-time occurrence, 100 points is A LOT.

Your HULL loses strength more and more as you move around, warp, etc no matter what becoming a giant resource drain. Making it so your unable to expand your space station at all. In order to expand you need loads of alloy which requires loads of iron, which requires multiple space ports to launch many miners and transport ships. But you cant cause the majority of your resources is being dumped into repairing your hull.

Want to build a solar panel? Apparently you cant repair your hull while doing so! Because that makes sense! (No the solar panels are not built into the hull, they attach on top of it)

You cannot mine anything in the beginning of the game, you can only use the resource piles inside the ship to build. You have to jump to another 'system' to start looking for resources. But then your HULL starts degrading making it a constant struggle to expand.

If you unfreeze too many people, even if you have the food and housing for them, everyone will blow up the space station. Your the last of humanity but oh my god theres too many people in my sector! KILL EVERYONE!

Resources have the most STUPID system where each sector has its own individual storage and resources, and you have to move resources around from sector to sector. This makes ZERO sense, your all on the same ship! Why do we need to have resource management on the same ship! Just have every sector go into the same pool!

Hopefully they improve this stuff in the future, i played 3 games and ended up losing all of them, managed to get into the 2nd system before losing. I just cant see how i can expand, keep the hull repaired, research things, explore, keep people happy, and more all at the same time. It just seems impossible with its current design.

Everyone complaining about loads of bugs and performance problems.

Im on a Ryzen 2700 with a GTX 970, if I can play this game on high settings at 35-50 avg FPS which honestly plays very smooth (i dont notice its below 60 fps) because it was made to work on last gen consoles. Then your $5000 pc with a 10th gen intel cpu and RTX 2080 TI or 3k series can run it smooth as butter.

Im sure they are all trying to run the game at 4K Ultra settings with RTX cranked up to max.

As for bugs, I havent had time to play much of the game yet, but what ive played so far ive seen zero bugs. No audio glitches, video glitches, not even AI glitches with NPC's. Games ran perfect up to the point im at so far.

For what i can experience on my lesser PC, this game is everything it was hyped to be.
It looks amazing, the gameplay is good, controls are good, and the soundtrack is killer. Only thing i got annoyed with is how i cant save in certain situations, and how the AI's keep yelling at you if you go exploring around or not following them on their linear path.

Good game, get it.
Hopefully future patches can give me some extra frames lol.

Ive had this game for years, played through all of the alpha and beta tests, feature tests, and more. The studio that makes this game was very small when they started (around 10-20 people) and today even they are small but have grown.

This is not a AAA game or studio, they do not have unlimited funds, and they do not have a publisher. They are doing everything themselves.

So this release of their game? Going from 2000 players to 100,000 broke their servers. This is expected with that much of an increase in users. Almost every AAA game that gets released has server issues on launch. Activision, Bethesda, EA, Blizzard, and more have all had bad launches with servers. So dont listen to the huge amount of negitive reviews complaining about the server problems. The devs ARE working on them and they WILL be fixed.

As for the game, compared to the alpha/beta this is amazing. The experience for me is better then diablo when it comes to character customization, combat, skills, and the weapons. They plan on releasing more content in the future once everything in this release gets fixed.

Only problems ive had: Hitboxes are a tad small, making it difficult to target some monsters. Item drops arent named. Holding down left click does not target the nearest monster.

I waited several years to play the release game, its sad these "children" cannot wait 3 days for the devs to solve the server problems. Buy the game, and have patience. Its their first game EVER, give them some time to work out the issues.

This game IS NOT "always online" you can play the WHOLE GAME offline! So the games servers are NOT REQUIRED to play the game and access all of its content. But offline characters do not sync to online servers. This game also doesnt have DRM.

Recent update installs malicious software onto your PC.
Their new "launcher" forces you to make an account with them and to agree to 3 giant policies that state they WILL collect personal, system, and game information from you and sell it to 3rd parties. And if you dont agree to this you CANNOT play the game that you own on steam.

Yes. Even after purchasing the game on steam, if you DO NOT AGREE to allow them to collect and sell your personal data, you cannot play the game you paid for on STEAM.

EDIT: Users are now saying Windows 10 is reporting the new launcher as malicious software. And the game is now unplayable (cannot be launched) since this update with the new launcher. Most likely caused by Windows 10 blocking it.

This has got to be the worst attempt at a cash grab on steam ive ever seen. All of the tutorials and instructions are based on an XBOX controller. There is NO INSTRUCTIONS ANYWHERE about the keybinds and how to use them except going into the options and looking in there. And they are completely F***ed up!

So to move you use WASD ok thats right, but to ATTACK you got to press J, K, and L, and like 5 other keys on the complete opposite of the keyboard. And since the description of these key binds are so vague i dont even know what half of these even mean, so i attempted to play hoping it would tell me what these mean but it just shoves XBOX buttons in your face.

This was just the TRIAL! I downloaded 30GB for a TRIAL where you only get access to ONE playable character.

The game also takes your entire PC hostage. Borderless fullscreen IS NOT Borderless, its fullscreen just to the width of your monitor. The whole purpose of windowed mode and borderless fullscreen is for the ease of access to other monitors or to quickly be able to tab out onto the desktop and do other things. YOU CANT! Even in windowed mode your cursor is LOCKED within the game and theres no way to get out. I even tried going fullscreen and doing (WinKey Tab) Nope... (Ctrl Alt Esc - Should MINIMIZE it) Nope... Window key? Nope. Trying to move your cursor out of the window? HA! What cursor? This game deletes it!

For years ive wanted to play this damn game on PC but every release they make on Steam is just a horrible console port that is feature locked to XBOX controllers.

Dont get it.

Game is broke for PC. All of the other reviews stating this are true.
All of the bethesda 'solutions' for this black screen problem do NOT work.
- Having the files on your C drive does not matter.
- Having steam cloud disabled does not matter.
- Having your antivirus off does not matter.
- Deleteing the base files in the saved games folder does not matter.
- Reinstalling the game also does not matter.
- Switching to the beta branch yields zero updates different from the main branch, basically it doesnt matter.

One time it actually started up and i could hear sounds of me hovering over a menu item, but the next restart 'fixed' that. As in it was gone, just a black screen with no response of anything in the background being hovered over.

I was really looking forward to playing this game, but bethesda doesnt give any fks about your problems and has no intentions of fixing them. My PC specs are recommended on their 'system requirements' yet i cant even get past the main menu.

I have over 400 hours into this game. I am a very good player normally always 2.0 kdr and usually the top of my team in kills and points. I have spent MILLIONS of in game credits on dozens of guns that i have spent MILLIONS of more credits modding specifically for superior stability and accuracy. I play with assault rifles, and i like short and accurate burst shots. I also use these in combination with Borma and my Nano Gel ability extended with perm sockets.

Well the newest update ruined all of this. All of my accurate modded rifles have now become lightweight machine guns that have a bullet spread bigger than a shotgun. Every rifle i have tried is the same. Its inacurate and the stability or recoil doesnt reset when burst firing.

My ability has also been nerfed to hell. I used to get well over 60-90 seconds on my Tier 2 Nano Gel now i get a measly 10 seconds. 10 SECONDS! With perm sockets for duration!

The new UI is absolute garbage as well. They turned a well made game into a complete ♥♥♥♥ show. GJ Nexon, You ruined yet another game. Guess you have not learned your lesson from Combat Arms.
