It's a lot of fun. Brutally difficult if you're thinking it's going to be casual like smash.

CPU in arcade modes are fair to deal with, even on "hard" difficulty. A Tutorial for new players would be great. Characters are otherwise fun to play with unique movesets that offer a fun playstyle change.

Only real negative is that PVP Matchmaking could use some work - Did a few 1v1 matches as "absolute beginner" skill level (it asked me), got 3-0'd permacombo'd by people wavedashing across the stage every single match. I'd beat the arcade on hard bots a few times at this point so I thought I was ready, but I wasn't anywhere close...

I think I'd rather play it with friends as a casual game, but it definitely feels like it wants to be a Competitive SSBM-style game. Pick it up if that sounds like your jam.

With a variety of characters, abilities, and ways to deal damage, the game is able to feel consistently fresh. With the usual rogue-like trappings, you know what you're getting into, and the game doesn't disappoint. Fun to lose yourself in for an hour or two at a time.

I recommend this game. At least, I mostly do. This game is what more like what Evolve wanted to be, had it not lost itself in ambition, and the game certainly offers an experience unlike any other. However, my hesitation to give this an emphatic recommendation comes from the quality of this experience from match to match.

Some matches, you have a killer with perks and addons that are strong (or memey) that let you have a chance to escape chases and play the game as an interaction of skill between you. Others, there is no hope for survivors with an unfun setup of perks designed to ensure the survivors are killed as fast as possible with as little interaction as possible. Some killer matches you get 4 Brand New Parts on Ormond and there's one generator remaining by the time you find your first survivor, while other matches it's a pulse-pounding hunt to find the survivor with a skeleton key before they can open hatch for the squad, with everyone on death hook. Tunnel-mori-slugging-efficient killing is fine, as is quick execution of generators to finish the match faster, but these styles of play tend to leave the individual players feeling helpless and frustrated if encountered frequently. And while the match was functionally great, the quality of how the match felt to play usually isn't, which can be an awful exit point for the game.

Technically speaking, the game is fine. It works, fine. It plays, fine. There are few meaningful bugs (please fix rock glitch and fatshaming pallets, please), so nothing to write home about. All of the included systems feel well enough designed that I don't have particular problems with perks, survivors or killers, and the wide variety in the cast and builds is a definite plus. I highly recommend you give it a shot!

One final note - this game does get more fun with friends. it's not required as survivor, and can't be done as killer, but being able to meme with compadres can help turn a crappy match on its head. Just make sure they don't tilt before you!

Pixelated Harvest Moon that brings back nostalgia while giving you more to keep you interested. It's really great and oddly relaxing to play, even if sometimes it can be frustrating - what, it's 2 am and I still have yet to plant half my seeds on Day 1 of a season? WELL THEN. The aesthetic, simplicity of the game play, and rather intuitive nature of how things work all make this a fun game to waste a few (40/week) hours on while putting off school work, or something to play to unwind.

The only cons I can really think of is that, once you've set out with a goal in mind and accomplished that goal, there's really not much else that can keep you coming back to that particular save file unless you self-impose more goals. Completed community center in Y1 due to super luck? Cool! now What? Friended all villages before winter? Noice. Made 2mil on one season alone? It's things like this, for those who need carrots on a stick to keep them playing that might find it distracting.

Oh, one more con. The main summer theme that starts with a gong. It's near identical to an emergency alarm in my area, and scared the crap out of me.

But no, go waste your life on Farmvest Valley. You'll not regret it.

So, this is another Borderlands game. There's a lot of the elements that used to be present in BL2 that are still present, however, there are quite a few improvements over the previous. The characters seem to have a little more personality, though I wouldn't say that the ones in the previous installments had little personality. it's a nice refreshing improvement. Unfortunately, there are no characters that speak in haiku. The environments tend to all bleed together from what I've played of it so far, and most of them are shown in the trailer so far, but only having reached level 15 as of this review, this could be different throughout the game. That being said, the environments aren't bad to look at either, and the cel-style graphics are always a nice change. Best of all, though, is that the movement in this game is so much fun. The moon bounces and boosts are soo much fun; the low-grav environments make for refreshing changes and make the overall gunplay that much more fun. Buttslamming is a blast, and best of all the vehicle physics are much improved so that way they control much better. They still have their quirks, but it's not something that makes me audibly groan.

The main things that I say have made this feel different than previous than before is the recharge on class skills make them almost trivial to use sometime. Walking into an Enemy? Press F, Boss fight? Press F. Too many mobs? Press F. It'll be back soon enough anyway, so long as you can kite adequately, or, if you spec that tree, you'll never leave it during a battle. It's a little silly, but it makes the game fun, if a little uneven in its difficulty at times. And regarding the difficulty, there are certain portions of the game that feel uneven in its balancing. Certain portions of it are perfectly fine, normal trash mobs spawning and it's fine. Another time you'll backtrack through the area on the way back from exploring and three badasses and an armored flyer will spawn; this isn't really a problem if you're prepared, but can be kinda jarring if you're not expecting it. The last thing I hve to really comment on is how stingy the RNG seems to be with mod upgrades - currently on my level 15 character I'm still running a level 3 grenade mod and an OZ mod simply becuase they're better than the purples I've been getting in terms of their overall buffs and bonuses. Most things from the chests are usually only picked up for the sake of selling unless you happen to get a rocket launcher or something. However, it should be noted that the vending machines are much friendlier this time around so this isn't bad, more... adjusted compared to what I'm used to from the previous installments.

Overall, I llike the game and I'm having fun playing it. if you liked the previous Borderlands installments, you'll likely enjoy this one as well. Maybe not worth full price, but definitely worth it on a sale!

Pros:
Fun Characters, interesting personality.
Australia.
Fun movements and exploration
Enjoyable story
Unique element mechanics and interactions

Neutral:
Cel-shaded graphics not for everyone

Cons:
Some repetitive elements (trash mob dialogue, certain weapon sounds)
Perceived stinginess with RNG elements (mod drops, grinder RNG)
Difficulty unevenness

Early Access Review
So far, I've only played four hours, but I'm already loving the game. It's surprisingly detailed and polished for being in an alpha, though there are some issues (walking down slopes can sometimes trigger falling damage deaths). Alread it's a fun and intriguing game that I'll be quite interested in watching grow to release, and already well worth the money. Give it a shot!

This game is simple. You climb. You jump. You ragdoll your way through minimilistic 3-D worlds in search of crystals while growing a starseed to bring back to your ship. That's it! And yet, with such a simplistic objective and design, I can't help but find myself enjoying every moment I play this game, be it for the satisfying task of exploration, the fun and quirky utility plants (flower-ups) to the cavern systems and crystal hunting that makes this game truly a gem. For $7.99 USD, it's a great buy, though I'd recommend you pick it up while on sale.

To note, the controls can be a bit quirky, and the camera is generally unobtrusive - you don't have to fight it very often unless you're in a really tight and overall bad location. There are no actual "enemies" but plenty of ambient creatures and plants, and plenty of ways to die, though there are plenty of checkpoints scattered about at different levels. Robots can drown, what? Overall, I'd recommend this game if you're looking for somethign that's relaxing enough to pass some time, but involved enough to make you think and consider how to approach different tasks.

As a future note -I hope this game receives updates with additional levels. I've only played for a few hours now and am still in the first (perhaps only?) world, but for replayability's sake, I hope that more stages are added with different locations, biomes and creatures becuase this is a world I love to explore, and would like to do so more.

With a soundtrack that grows on you and simple yet challenging mechanics, there's really nothing to -not- like about this game. It's simple, easy to pick up but deceptively difficult to master. It's worth a good few hours of play time. Given that there's only six stages, each with their own quirks and patterns, you'd think it might not be worth the full price... but even so, it's definitely something worth grabbing when on sale.

There are very few times in a game where the ending makes me feel horrible, but for all the right reasons. I will say no more about this, but I must concede that I've played this games many times through on both Xbox and PC, and no matter how many times I play it, I still enjoy it.

The mechanics and gameplay iaresimple at the base, and the progression is fairly linear, but that isn't a detraction at all; honestly, the game feels like a novella you play, coupled with a kick ass sound track and narrator that bring the entire experience together into something... above the standard ARPG. Even with the simple gameplay, there are challenges and higher difficulties that require creative use of these simple mechanics that can make it quite difficult to play if you feel like going for the challenge. However, if you also want to casually stroll through the game with minimal difficulty, there's an option for that as well.

But, as you play through the game, you'll find that the simplicity of the game's mechanics makes it that much easier to enjoy the ambience, atmosphere and allure presented by the visual and story aspects. That's where this game excels. As to not spoil anything for those interested in the game, I will only say that the story is... satisfying, no matter the paths taken, and there's a fair bit of backstory for those willing to be adventurous. And though it's a short game, I'd highly recommend it for my friends, full price or while on sale.

Normally, I'm not one for First Person Shooters; Having sampled quite a few across consoles and computer alike, they all seemed to be too... Serious?... in the way they handled themselves. Their elements of story were minimal at best, and required such an investment that simply starting the campaign was a committment to a mediocre story that invested too much stock in itself. Borderlands 2 scraps that entirely. From the beginning, you never get the impression that the game takes itself too seriously, further reinoforced by the fact that CL4P-TP is the first thing you meet in the game. He's your "guide" to introduce you to the game, and the fact that he's surprised you can WASD speaks volumes for the tone of this game.

As the story progresses, it implores you to believe in it, but doesn't force you to do so; in fact, the story is almost as much fun if you remain a respectful distance from it in order to catch all of the subtleties laced within the actual plotline and dialogues; and honestly, that's what makes this game so utterly enjoyable. It's got solid mechanics for a FPS, great physics and gear modifications that can either help or hinder you (Here's to you, Hyperion sniper rifles with boss damage and elemental stats), while giving you a story filled with jokes and innuendos, it makes you wonder if you're actually playing a game or reliving a drunken rendition of your best bro's dream from last week.

There are also a myriad of challenges and side quests inthe story, that, even without DLC, can eat up almost 50 hours or so of your time. Plus, it gives different difficulties after the first playthrough, making it tons of fun to revisit for a challenge, or to try and storm with a group of friends. I must say, I wish that more FPS were like BL2; A gem among a somewhat stale genre is a refreshing change.

Just be sure to ask Marcus about refunds.
