This game is not really supported by Ubisoft at all anymore. It can be kinda difficult to get it working with no issues, but if you can get it working, the single-player content is pretty fun (the multiplayer sadly don't work no more).

Blacklist offers some pretty darn good stealth mechanics. It has a soft light/shadow mechanic, decently fluid movement, some fun stealth gadgets (tri-rotor, sticky camera, emp, etc), and all the necessary stealth mechanics that a stealth game needs to be at least decent, and then some.

You can either have a casual or hardcore stealth experience with this game, depending on how you play and the difficulty you choose. I don't really care for the combat stuff but luckily you don't have to engage with it (for the most part, and assuming you can stealth well).

The story is not great, Sam Fisher is kind of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and they replaced his iconic voice actor, so I just pretend its a different guy lol.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is better but this game certainly ain't bad, and offers unique things/gameplay that MGS5 doesn't have!
Ubisoft please fix game and re-enable the servers!

Penumbra: Overture is a decent adventure horror game. I like the adventure aspect of it the most and there were some satisfying puzzles although maybe a bit too easy.

Apparently the combat in this game sucks but... I tried fighting the dogs once and they didn't die after hitting them a ton with my pickaxe and explosive barrels so I just concluded they were invincible and combat wasn't an option. I also concluded that the spiders were too small to be hit after trying lol. So I didn't engage with the combat system at all, thinking it was non-existant. I just snuck around everything and had a decently fun time doing so.

The story was pretty interesting as well. It left me interested to see where it leads in the next game.

This game is incredibly tense and horrifying, especially in the early game when you have no idea how to even attempt some counter-play to the beast. As you progress you gradually find out what options you have to survive encounters and press forward. It was incredibly satisfying to learn the mechanics of this game. Throughout this whole experience, it never failed to give me anxiety and made me genuinely terrified to keep going.

There were many moments that left me dumbstruck from how intense and insane things got. I feel like frictional games really figured out how to maximize the potential of this game. I also only played through it once and I know that there is a lot that I have yet to discover, on top of the fact that each playthrough is randomized to an extent. There are also extra gamemodes and even a custom gamemode, so there is a ton of replay value.

I love frictional games 10/10 another banger

As a stealth gamer, this game is incredibly fun. The stealth gameplay has been improved a ton compared to Sniper Elite 4. There is also much less jank and overall feels a lot smoother to play. The invasion mode is also really fun both when you're invaded and when you are invading. I really like the weapon customization too.

Early Access Review
It took me a while to get into this game because I had heard it was very similar to the Thief games, but when I played it, it felt pretty different to the Thief games and wasn't what I was looking for at the time. However, upon revisiting this game and playing it less like a Thief game, and more like a Survival Horror / Immersive Sim game, I had a much better time.

To me, the survival horror and immersive sim aspects define this game a lot more than it's thiefness (although it does still contain some good thiefness). But these aspects are executed really well, the level design is great, and the environments are great.

Honestly my main issue is that one single voice actor voices so many of the characters in the game, and it is very distracting. Especially since I am very familiar with the voice actor's work. That voice actor is even used for the main character. I literally instantly knew the voice actor when I heard the player's grunt sound effect when you pick up objects, he's pretty recognizable. It doesn't ruin the game or anything, but I just think a little bit more voice actor variety would help a lot.

Anyways, very good game if you like either survival horror or immersive sims. Especially if you like both (like I do). Looking forward to when it releases fully.
