DO NOT PLAY WITHOUT THE UNOFFICIAL PATCH!!! (it fixes tons of bugs and also adds a bunch of additional quests).

Anyways, this game is definitely one of the best roleplaying games out there for me.
Getting thrown into an entirely different world, out of a vampire's whim (You'll see, it's nothing major), you are forced to adapt into this new way of life as a vampire. The game does not skip the details on how to properly do so, make sure to listen in closely to what people, and undead alike, tell you.

There are 7 clans to choose from with each having their own unique set of powers (every clan has 3 disciplines which they can level up as they go on, unlocking new abilities) and focus on certain attributes from which they can profit.

The game takes place in 'The World of Darkness' universe (based on the tabletop games), where, not only vampires, but also werewolves, wraiths and other such supernatural things exist. You get to hear and see about many of those things tied within that universe in this game. The loading screens offer a lot of additional information on everything related to this world (wish they wouldn't end so quickly though).

The game's strong suit is definitely its dialogue, although the combat may seem janky at times, it does not nullify the interest I had in a quest I was pursuing because of the associated characters and the dialogue that came along with it. Your character's dialogue options are also unique on their own, as there are unique options of dialogue depending on your seduction, persuasion and intimidation level (One is also associated with the dominate discipline, unique to certain clans). There's also the humanity attribute which influences that as well.

You can go about quests and confrontations in a furtive manner, or just waltz right through every area, killing your enemies along the way. (Depending on what your quest-giver tells you, one option might seem more appropriate than the other.). A lot of quests also offer different outcomes and depending on how you finished one, your fellow quest-giver either will scorn or appreciate you for it.

Every quest will give you enough XP to level up the attributes you want to focus on, I highly encourage you to talk to as many people as you can and do as many quests as possible. But always be aware of the choices you make!

The immersion this game offers is simply fantastic, the way your character's action ties in with the main quest and with every npc you talk to is just refreshing to see in a roleplaying game. It truly made me feel involved with the characters and story.

The music for this game is really fun to listen to and especially appropriate for every location you visit, which also helps with the immersion of the World of Darkness. It's also available on Spotify.

This game for sure is worth several playthroughs, as Clan Malkavian and Nosferatu both offer their own unique playthrough, I highly recommend you play one of these ONLY after having played through the game once.

solid 10/10 for me, no matter how dated a game is, its inner beauty will always strike out for me.
